Very straight-to-the point, Gedo makes 'simple' taste amazing. If you're into Middle-Eastern and Sudanese food, you'll get great quality for little money. No need to ask for anything fancy, just order some rice, spit-roasted lamb, veal or chicken, some hummus, why not Ayran, and finally enjoy the moment. Gedo is one of those places where prices are kept ultra-low while plates are ultra-full. You know what they say, tell your friends...

We remember seeing articles about Taco Bell to open in Romania, and that made us so sad to see how many people were happy about it, especially as they already have El Torito offering the best Mexican food in Eastern Europe. Just to tell you that if you want some real Mexican cuisine, don't go to Mega Mall or Promenada, but Iancu Capitanu, near Foisorul de Foc. Just make sure you book a table first, the place is often full.

Coftale is one of the oldest places offering specialty coffee in the city, if not the oldest. The cafe is located in an old house with traditional romanian chemneys. Besides having good coffee, Coftale also offers food on the menu. We love the fact that is it one of the only places where we really feel like home, while having a tasty cup of caffeine.

You might have passed front of the entrance without  noticing it. Indeed, the place seems as discret as the quantity and the variety of their offer is large, and I guess I can declare without taking any risks that at other times, Bacchus's adorers would have chosen Vino as their sanctuary. Hundreds and hundreds of bottles of wine are waiting for you, it's as much flavours as    colourfull wine dresses   which are offered to your look and your sense of taste.
The feeling that catched me  when I've been there is that  owners combined  the sophistication and the requirement, the choice of a bottle can represent, with the simplicity   but deeply efficient   following equation: a glass +   delicatessen and cheese plate  + friends = Perfection. No need  for me to have a PhD in mathematics to discover the result.
Here the conviviality is the key and it seems that in a biggest place, Vino's experience must have been definitly something else. A large and unique table at the first floor,  it seems that everything there has been done  in order to remind to all us that we are social animals, and so much more socials around wine and food to share together.

Trust me, you’ll want to live in this house. From the inviting entrance to the laid-back garden terrace, from the basement brick bar to the open kitchen floor and nordic-style attic, Simbio screams coziness on all levels. Since relocating from the old city centre to the more quiet Armenian district, Simbio has become a favorite among urbanites for late brunches and lazy breakfasts. Come for the eggs (benedict, norwegian, florentine), come back for the burgers (finally a place where they don’t overcook the meat), come again for the OMG pancakes. Weekday tip: check out their lunch menu which changes daily. Weekend tip: make a reservation, as always.

Simbio

Attached to the French Institute building in Bucharest, Elvire Popesco is a very popular cinema that usually premieres Romanian movies and hosts film festivals such as NexT, but also reunites the French community (hot guys alert -- i told them not to let me write this article) in Bucharest through conferences etc. Named after a very popular actress that was too pretty to live in Romania and wanted more followers so she went to Paris, this cinema features a very interesting movie selection (also late evening screenings for night owls).
This is a nice place for dates, of course, and nobody is going to spoil your romantic evening by loudly chewing popcorn behind you, because that's forbidden here.

Tired of the same old bars in the city? Need a change of scenery? Look no further than Lokal, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Bucharest. Located in the former home of the great actor Birlic, this place oozes vintage charm and a laid-back atmosphere. As you step inside, you'll be transported to a different era, surrounded by vintage and communist memorabilia.

But it's not just the decor that's enticing; the food and the friendly staff also do the trick. During the summer, you can enjoy your drinks and meals in the intimate and relaxed garden area.

If you're in the mood for something cozy, non-pretentious, and off the beaten path, Lokal is the place to be. It may be a bit difficult to find, but trust me, it's worth the effort. So why not shake things up and give Lokal a try? You won't be disappointed.

Let's start with a fun fact. You know how us French think we're so good at cooking simple but refined, and oh-so-delicate 'cuisine'. We've got this big baguette of an ego leading us to brag and boast about the balance of the tastes we lay on those pretty porcelain plates. Well one day I got to try Beautyfood. And it is beauty good. Obviously they have the classic burgers and all that, but since you asked me, my sweet spot is the salmon. This bad boy is chilling out there, having a ball with some salad leaves + rice (cooked juuuust right). I told you, it's simple, but it's fresh and delicious. If you'd like to go further in the fresh category, a good choice is always the 'menu du jour', limited edition of food-kisses and other butterflies in your belly. 
One last fun-fact since you really want to know this: when Mother comes to visit, she always eats here. And she knows about good food.

Beautyfood

You should by all means check out Kane, the latest venture from the team behind M60, a beautifully designed bistro on the more fancy side. The good: they have chosen to work only with small, hand-picked Romanian producers, and focus on seasonal products. The great: well… the food. Creative, tasty, and focused (a single-page menu, finally!), everything here is a fresh new take on tradition. The unique: the staff at Kane know the story behind every dish, and such attention to detail is a blessing. The bonus: homemade bread & butter. Fun fact: the lush urban design revolves around Greenery, Pantone's color of the year 2017.

T-Zero (tea-zee-roh / tO / To / t-zee raw, well as you wish) is one of the first cafes offering specialty coffee in town, and most certainly the tinest. You basically have two options: or you take it to go / or you manage to have a sit in one of the two or three chairs available and you'll have the pleasure to talk to the team being working a meter away from you. But no worries, they are very cool guys, you will enjoy buying your cup of coffee from there.

Designed as a cultural hub, Point has been shaking people’s conscience, supporting local artists, promoting contemporary arts, and offering a laboratory for new experiences. An ambitious mission, especially since they put the focus on cross-disciplinary works, while making it accessible to anyone and not only specialists. Ambitious, but necessary as those places are too rare in today's Bucharest. With the theater at the third floor, two spacious rooms and a garden, any cultural event happening there mobilizes as much curious people as intense art lovers, making each visit a source of inspiration for the visitors.
Being a national heritage building, the place combines perfectly the classical architecture with the inside's more modern look, revealing in a way what is Point all about.
Finally, if you are a little epicurean like me, you will hardly resist having a drink from the bar or a tasty meal from their kitchen, whatever was the original reason of your visit.

Buoni e bravi is one of those places that, someday, open at the corner of your street. It might be a small street, a square or an avenue. In our story it is a square. A square named Piata Rosetti. For a few days you pass in front wondering what is happening behind those tall windows... But always on the rush, it's only at night that the idea of giving it a try comes to your mind. And once again it's too late, they already closed. Damn those small teams trying to preserve the quality of their product by opening only a small chunk of the day! When will we synchronize you and me?
 
But then something strange starts happening. The entrance door refuses to close, as you need to leave space for the line inside. Not only, as a few days later, some more people start popping up, and the line extends to the sidewalk. And it keeps coming, never stops. Your colleagues from work start saying "who wants pizza from Buoni e bravi?" even if the office is 30mn away from the enchanted slices... There must be something to this place. And here it is, from 18:00 they extended to 20:00 and finally you can taste the answer to your question. The classic story of a pizza-place that needed less than a year to become a reference in downtown Bucharest. A tip on their strategy: the quality and generosity of the ingredients. Sometimes it doesn't take much more than this.

Buoni e bravi

Just a few blocks south of Ștefan cel Mare, Acuarela is a living, breathing piece of art in progress. Everything here screams handmade, handpicked, collected with love, to build a one-of-a kind home for artlovers and artists, featuring jazz concerts and jam sessions, indie theatre, photography, live drawing, contemporary art vernissages and fairs.

If it is indeed a bistro with good craft beer, burgers and some vegan options, all its proceeds go to the artistic and cultural association Imbold that has its gallery in the main house (one that could very well be your grandma’s if she’d been to art school). The attic (or mansarda) is a super cozy hangout where you’ll sometimes catch a screening. The garden is where you’ll wanna hang out with your friends under Acuarela’s now-iconic skyline of coloured umbrellas. If it starts raining cats and dogs, you’ll hardly be protected. But that’s exactly the right time to grab the water colors and brushes you’ll find on the table and start being creative.

A popular place during hot summer evenings, Shift Pub is known for its proximity to Piața Romană. Hidden inside a courtyard, the place could be seen as a beer garden in the summer, a pub or a cozy bistro. While the seating downstairs looks rather formal, upstairs you can find more cozy spots nicely designed. Their selection of drinks and especially wine is a must-try, and their diverse menu offers veggie options too. 

It can get really crowded during the evenings, so be sure to book a table if you want to eat there. As for recommendations, I would really suggest the zucchini with cream cheese and the white chocolate cake!

Shift Pub

Ivy is one of the greatest places to have a coffee if you are in Universitate area. Located on Carol I boulevard, Ivy serves coffee from Origo but also tasty snacks to make your lunch break more pleasing. On top of serving great coffee and food, Ivy also made lots of efforts on design. The balance between wooden furnitures and grey walls is very pleasant and will make you stay longer if you decide to stay in.

Lente loves art. Lente loves animation (they’re partners of the awesome Anim’Est festival). And Lente loves even more street artists, as its walls, both indoors and outdoors, will confirm. This is Lente’s third and latest 'living room', an artsy haven tucked away on the lovely Dionisie Lupu street, a few minutes away from Piata Romana. This is a place with an open mind and open doors (they welcome kids, pets and bikes) that feels like home.

Again, seasons matter. In winter, you’ll find comfort in this old bourgeois house where the attic has been turned into a heaven for board games (there’s over 100 of them for you to binge). 
In summer, the terrace takes over, home to some cool wall painting events and outdoor djing.  Their Asian woks are pretty rad, but if you’re a burger scientist, head to Lente on Wednesdays and try to convince the chef your recipe is worth a try, you may get to leave your mark on their future menu.


Lente Dionisie Lupu

Let’s face it, Blvd Magheru is a drag. But in typical Bucharest fashion, there sometimes are flowers amidst the concrete, or a quiet oasis just a few steps away from the noise. Tucked under (and behind) the beautiful Carturești bookstore, Cafe Verona is a 2-sided retreat: a basement cafe to hibernate-read-work during winter, and an outdoor garden where the trendies wind down when days get warmer. 

Both serve a good mix of fresh, mostly healthy food. The cafe is a perfect shelter from the bustling winter storms, a quiet, comfy brick basement designed with taste and decorated with photographs by local artists, serving a wide range of teas, hot chocolates — and pretty damn good desserts. When the cold days are over, it’s the season of the Gradina, a garden of delights that blossoms with Bucharest’s beautiful people. Though it tends to get crowded fast, it’s a choice destination for reconnecting with your senses. If you’re a lemonade freak, they’ll have you covered with an impressive choice of original flavors. Also make sure to check their week-long or weekend culinary events, a great occasion to taste fine foods and wines brought by producers from all over Romania in a cool atmosphere. 

Café Verona

Near the British Embassy, Orygyns is the perfect place for coffee lovers who don’t necessarily have the time to go all over the world to try coffee from different roasteries. Indeed, Orygyns usually selects one new provider each month, offering specialty coffee for their customers. It guarantees a different experience quite regularly, and it is also a nice way to make people travel, even when they are in their own city.

ORYGYNS Specialty Coffee

Located on Calea Dorobanti, Dose Café belongs to two former sailors from Constanta, who fell in love with specialty coffee during their numerous trips all around the world. Open since a year and half, they remain loyal to their coffee provider, Caffenation, a roastery based in Antwerp, another harbor city, to give us a wink. Good coffee for sure, but also great service! Always smiling and willing to help, you will feel home by the time you open the door. The place is small, but very enjoyable for a coffee to drink in.

Dose Cafe

Let me tell you at at least three reasons why Manasia Hub is so special. 
First: Manasia used to be a Police station. Seems though that the Ministry of Internal Affairs got a budget cut and had to sell half of the building. As a result the building is now divided in two: A bar on the left, the police station on the right. As Cut-Killers' vynils would scream in the movie "La Haine": Assassin de la police!
Ok moving on: second fun fact, upstairs you can play ping-pong from the right hand, drink a beer from the left one, and escape on the dance floor when the pressure of the tie-break gets too high. Talking about the dance floor, it is actually one of those places where I would recommend the music. Homie feel from the invited DJs, songs you won't hear anywhere else... If tonight's party fits you, relax, enjoy and turn on automatic pilot. 
The third good reason will touch your heart in it's most summer-ish memories: the terrace is made to chill with your friends. It feels a bit like a neighborhood party, where you would like to get the grill out and share a meal. No need to bring the grill though, as they usually invite their friends' foodtruck "Bucateria". Oh and let me tell you, those guys will rock your taste buds.
Finally, fourth (I said four right?): good to know but Manasia is not mainly a bar. It is actually more like a cultural hub. Artists stay here as a residence, and participate by bartending among other things to its community.

The historical French Revolution shop, in front of the Romanian Atheneum, is the perfect sweet refuel place for the ones walking in the center of Bucharest. The choices are the same than at French Revolution Victoriei, but I truely advice you to go ther quite early if you want to make sure you find what you need. Officially closing at 8pm during weekends, French Revolution usually manage to sell all its eclairs at 6pm, tho. Has to be tasty, right?

Camera din Fata is one of these tiny places with such a cozy atmosphere, where people go to spend some real quality time together around a table. Friends, couples and families meet there, in order to enjoy a cup of tea or two. They also have a selection of coffee beans from several countries in the world. A perfect getaway from the city centre's crowd, by staying in the centre.

M60 is the place who got created in an area surrounded by the best hotels in town. Guess why? These hotels don't even serve specialty coffee. You can also go there for breakfast, lunch, or grab a beer in the evening. M60 is the favourite place of freelancers, as it has quite a lot of space, plugs, and comfortable chairs and table to give the possibility to someone to stay hours while being productive on his tasks.

Atipic is a small cafe located behind ASE, near Piata Romana. Bianca, who used to work at the same place when it was called Boiler, took over the coffee shop and now serves coffee from Colonna.

Resale might be a small second-hand by it size, but it does host a nice selection of second-hand for those who are looking for something else than some more H&M copy-paste. Worth mentioning: they sell their items per kilogram.

Are you fed up with giving your money away to the big guys, in exchange of the lowest quality bread? If yes, you and I have found each other (BFFs!). Like me, your anti-capitalist instincts may want to overthrow the system sometimes. But hold on, there's an easier (and tastier alternative). 

Go to Miez! Open since 2016, the place offers authentic handmade products crafted with expertise and passion. Bread, pastries, they all taste unique. If Amzei’s area is known as a pleasant area where to find proper groceries, it’s also thanks to Miez.

8 in the morning, you just woke up with one thought in mind: treating yourself with a nice breakfast. Or wait no, you just left the club Eden instead, it was a long night of partying... And your tummy is screaming 'feed me'. Well, in both case simply follow the white rabbit by clicking on "Go there". 

Miez - Brutarie Artizanala

First of all, please note that Artichoke is most probably the favorite café among instagramers in Bucharest. The café is located at the end of an archway, near Kretzulescu Church and the Humanitas Library. Diana Anghel, owner of the place, expresses there her love for plants and modernist architecture. That's how Artichoke became this mix between modernist and minimalist, linked with a touch of green. The jungle of Artichoke continuously hosts art exhibitions, usually showcasing local artists between two leaves. Good coffee in a tasteful decor makes people often refer to it as a cozy cocoon, where you end up spending an entire afternoon catching up with your close ones.

Crocant is one of these outstanding places in town, with many nice things, but I am trying to figure out what I should mention first? Probably their cakes and biscuits, being all exposed at the food counter, that you might look for a couple of minutes before deciding what to order. Then, you'll see that they have a breakfast and brunch menu. I can only suggest that you come several time to decide what you like most, because so far, I enjoyed literally everything. Coffee lovers, you'll be served with some coffee from Guido, and the people looking for some sparkles can opt for some of the trendy lemonades, sodas and craft beer. Not to forget, Crocant is not only a nice brunch place, but it is also a bakery, in case you're looking for some good bread for home.

Tucked away in a quaint corner of Bucharest is an absolute gem called VanFruct. This cozy café boasts excellent coffee and vibes that will instantly uplift your spirits. Whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying some alone time, VanFruct offers the perfect ambiance for any occasion.

Speaking of the coffee, prepare to have your taste buds tantalized by one of the best cups you've had in a long time. With their dedication to sourcing top-notch beans and expert baristas who truly know their craft, every sip feels like a flavorful journey into java heaven.

While food options may be limited, don't let that deter you from visiting this hidden treasure. Indulge yourself with delicious little cheesecakes or opt for their weekend brunch if timing allows.

With its 130 seats, Cinema Union isn’t the biggest cinema in town, but it is one of the nicest to any self-respecting cinephile.
Before known as the Romanian Cinemateca, it sets itself as an institution of long tradition as In 1962 the National Film Archives held there their first event. Even if a couple of years later, the location changed, before finally settling down at Strada Ion Câmpineanu, Union’s philosophy remained the same: to reunite cinema lovers around the promotion of cinematographic culture.
For this reason, not only Cinema Union is part of Europas Cinemas, but they also take part in many types of movie festivals, such as One World Romania, NexT or Animest.

While some people would refer to it as « the restaurant above club Control », Alt Shift is a bit more than that. Launched in 2015 by the owners of Shift, Alt Shift has it all: perfect central location, really good food, impeccable service, a wide choice of Romanian (but not only) wines and smashing desserts, in a cool post-industrial design that also feels homey. You could only wish all places had that level of quality and attention to detail, while also remaining affordable… 

This is a keeper, and you’ll find yourself coming back to enjoy its trendy vibe during weekends or more laid-back during the week. During daytime, when the season allows, you can also eat out on the awesome terrace of Control. A couple of things to keep in mind: always remember to make a reservation, and if you’ve been lured up here from the club to enjoy the great pizzas, make sure you come after midnight (that’s when the night shift menu comes to life!).

Alt Shift

Everyone has a love-hate relationship with Control but let’s admit that, at one point (almost) everyone ends up coming back. Since the communist era the place has seen the birth of many (more or less) ephemerals couple. Back then the place was known as a restaurant called “Berlin”, to which Control Club payed its respect by naming the main concert room “Sala Berlin”. From Jazz Nouveau’s concerts, to Berghain’s resident DJ set, from Princess Nokia’s feminist Hip-Hop to Gang of Four, Control has offered and still offers high quality events. And if you ever can't find your soul mate for the night, you could always eat your sadness away: go upstairs to Alt-Shift where they serve pretty-delicious-pizzas until the morning.

Opened by the Romanian microbrewery 'Zaganu', Fabrica de bere bună is a large craft beer bar opened on Calea Victoriei. Along their own beers, you'll find other good local beers served draft or bottle, from Hop hooligans to Ground Zero, but not only. Not only, as Clarks comes crashing the party with their natural not-too-sweet exquisite Cider. Coming from a land of cider (a.k.a Normandy), this is a cider I can vouch for. So what were we talking about... Oh ah, wait, yes beer. But not only, as you can find some useful appetizers / tapas to go with your fresh bubbly beverage. Bonus for the one who like to look at the people passing by the street from a higher point of view, but still are a bit afraid from heights: you can have a sit in front of their big windows overlooking Calea Victoriei from the first floor. Or to be looked at, depending on what you're into.

Fabrica de bere bună - Craft  Beer Bar

Opened in a area going through an active revivification, Consignatia 7 decided to set foot in Strada George Vraca, besieged by a recent invasion of specialty coffee shops and party places. Being one of the cutest second-hand around with a good curation on what they have to offer, a visit at Consignatia 7 fits perfectly in a lazy and sunny week-end afternoon, strolling around the streets neighboring the Parcul Cismigiu.

Red neons in the back, a wonderful San Remo Cafe Racer showcased in the middle of one of the most bad-ass coffee shops in town and and few seats available for experiencing espresso drinks in the middle of George Vraca street. You'll find only single origin drinks from different european roasteries. 

Panda Bandit Specialty Coffee

Why are people still going to McDonald's if they can go to Burger Van? Being french and addicted to tender and under-cooked meat, it took a little bit of time to adapt to the Romanian-style (stay safe, cook hard). And one day, after trying a burger here, I felt that finally someone had found the way to talk to my senses. Only downside is that I end up buying burgers at least once a week, if not more. Or is it a downside? In any case the menu remains simple, offering 6 different burgers always made with fresh ingredients. Still hesitating? Well, as they say: Yes... we're open. 

Burger Van Bistro

A concept store in the old town, who thought it would be possible? The Urbanist makes it real and will offer you great cocktails, craft beer, as well as specialty coffee from the local roaster Bob Coffee Lab. Relaxing during the afternoon, The Urbanist switch its music in the evening and becomes more of a great bar offering everything you need for a good pre-party session.

Vegans, step aside. Linea is pretty much for meat lovers. New places get trendy real fast, so back to rule #1: Always Make A Reservation. As you exit the elevator on the 4th floor of the Interbelic building, the first thing you’ll notice is the big, bustling char & grill kitchen (thank goodness, it’s enclosed). Stretching over the full length of the building, the dining space and bar are impressive, with a nice modern design. If you’re into beef and really hungry, go for the brisket, a one-of-a kind experience in Bucharest. Burgers rate pretty high, and the wine list has some very nice and quite fancy offerings.  

One floor up is Closer to the Moon, the new contender in the raging Bucharest Rooftops War. Stretching over a narrow but seemingly endless terrace, lined with a loooooong mural by Bucharest graffiti artists Sweet Damage Crew, Closer to the Moon offers a stunning view of western Bucharest and the Parliament (yes, sunsets do get awesome here). This winter, the rooftop is host to a dozen private heated igloos (more like small transparent plastic domes), where you can enjoy a drink or eat closer to the skies. Don’t expect to find one unless you’ve made a reservation. But once you’re in, come rain or snow, just text the waiter your order. Titania here, bring on the ţuica fiartă!

Linea / Closer To The Moon

Trofic is the brother-in-food from the Origo team. The place opened in 2017 with the willingness to offer not only one of the best coffee in the city, but also great healthy food. Definitely to put on the top list of places where to have a great brunch in Bucharest.

Located very close to the park, Beans&Dots has a welcoming and cozy vibe that will make you feel right at home. The service is friendly and the staff will make sure you have a great experience. The place is even pet friendly, with their own resident cats adding to the charm.

Speaking of their drinks, the coffee at Beans&Dots is pure bliss. They serve specialty coffee from The Barn, and each cup is crafted to perfection. Whether you prefer a classic latte or a smooth cappuccino, you won't be disappointed. And if you're feeling hungry, be sure to try their delicious carrot cake or their must-try choco bread.

Palatul Universul, a name that could have been chosen by the Dacian gods (you know Zalmoxis, Sabazios, Gebeleizis and others). A name they would have given to such a place, knowing it was going to be the home to many wonders, hiding quietly behind the palace's heavy doors.
One of them is to be found at the very deep, where used to sit the imposing printing press of 'Universul', Romania's biggest newspaper in the 1920's. A room so high that the ceilings manage to let in outside light, making it probably the only 'demi-sol' I would love to set my apartment in. Apollo111 is a bar where took place some of the most memorable parties I've seen recently. It is also a theatre, run and curated by actor Bogdan Dumitrache, where are produced and played independent plays. Positioning itself as inter-disciplinary, Apollo111 also hosts from time to time concerts and art exhibitions.

Why does FIX keep you coming again and again? 

What kind of black magic do they use in their plant-based cocktails to make you fall in love with yet-another-wonder from the Palatul Universul? Being mostly a wine or craft beer drinker myself (good thing, they have it as well), I thought cocktails were more of a fancy-people drink. But Alex Ciomartan hides under his black cap an unstoppable passion for natural flavors that can please any gourmet. Like my uncle use to say, there's two kind of people in this world: the ones who were born to open a botanical bar, and the ones that were made to drink from it. Luckily for Alex, planets aligned, and he happens to be the friendliest guy around to pour you a drink. 

Now that I think about it, maybe that's the recipe for a good place. Feeling welcomed from the first second to the last minute, in a room where the drinks' single-purpose is to be delicious. 
Fun fact: one of their bartenders pretends very hard to speak French.

FIX - Botanical Bar

C-O FI Factory is a cafe in Floreasca district. Located in the well-known Strada Putul lui Zamfir, C-O FI is the perfect place to meet with your friends before or after going for a meal in one of the delicious restaurants located in the same street. They roast and serve their own coffee in a spacious and well-designed place.

This small café is one of the first places to offer specialty coffee in Bucharest. Origo is not only the name of a café, but also one of the most successful roasteries in Romania. Each time you get there, a selection of two types of coffees will be presented by the baristas, to make sure they’ll prepare the coffee that suits the best for you. Excellence is one of the key words describing Origo. Indeed, the café sees some of their baristas participating to World Coffee championships every year, most of the time bringing good results.

You might've heard about the Scandinavian craze with veganism (especially Sweden: 10% of the population is vegan) and how picky they are - I tried that with a Swedish friend visiting Bucharest and she was amazed by this place. Cute because not too big, Rawdia is modern and friendly enough for their internationally styled dishes - raw vegan food and other meal options that just have an amazing taste.
They don't really have a menu, but rather some staple dishes that are freshly prepared every day, ranging from raw pizza to soups, stuffed grape leaves and cheesecakes. Doesn't matter how undecided you are about what you're gonna eat, they will present it in a very attractive way.

Recently moved to the fanciest neighborhood of Bucharest, Delicii Gelato is definitely one of the best places for homemade ice-cream. The rainbow of flavors they offer will soothe your moody day or your sweaty summer afternoon - try the basil&orange one, but also the classics such as vanilla&cherry.
The cute intimate interior and the affordable prices make it actually a great spot for a first date. And if the gelato isn't motivational enough, how about coffee with ice-cream or even better ice-cream cocktail?! Go ahead and melt away your worries with some flavor adrenaline.

Two Minutes is one of the greatest cafe in Floreasca district. Located on Constantin Aricescu street, the cafe is serving coffee from Right Side Coffee, a roastery from Barcelona. Two Minutes is the perfect place for the ones who go for a walk around the beautiful streets of Dorobanti. They are also one of the few cafes offering Matcha Latte. 
What makes Two Minutes famous? The dogs chilling outside? The kids playing with there with their parents? The baristas? Ionut, the owner? Two Minutes is definitely the type of place where everyone seems happy, and this is probably why it is always a pleasure to be there.

Just when you thought you’d give up bread, this comes up. Pâine si vin, or the promise of a delightfully sinful absolution for any respectable Frenchman. Located just off Blvd Regina Elisabeta in a tastefully designed space, Pâine si vin is a welcome addition to the Bucharestean foodie scene, as everything here revolves around simple pleasures, mastered to near perfection. 
And not just bread, but flatbread, pizza, flammkuche (the Flemish caloric bomb), Indian Naans, Mexican Tortillas, Swedish Knäckebröd, topped with the most exquisite ingredients, all carefully selected from Romanian producers, making up the most international menu any breadlover could dream of. As if that wasn’t enough, Pâine si vin also serves excellent platters you can share, whether you’re a cold cuts aficionado or a vegetarian. The icing on the cake — so to speak — is the remarkable wine list, mostly from Romania and Moldova. If you'd rather stay sober, try their infused waters, both still and sparkling, they’ll cheer you up all the same.
Two important things to keep in mind before getting absolved: Pâine si vin opens at 5pm, and does not accept reservations. And a third, that could come in handy if you’d rather impress your date at home: they also deliver a small selection from their menu.

French fries may come first in people's mind when it's about  going to eat something at Energia, and if indeed they are delicous, let's bring justice to the place saying that, definitly no, it is not a potato restaurant as Energia has much more to offer. I'd rather see the place as a nice urban restaurant where you can combine a drink with healthy food in cool environment, previously known as  a printing house of the same name.
Cultural events and concerts also contribute  to  make  of Energia an interesting choice for a first place where to start or to prepare your party, before losing your soul into the night.
Then, no matter what your plan is, still, don't forget also to order french fries...

A 14 years old business, which started as an importer of Italian food to Romania, quickly evolved into a catering company, and suddenly became one of Bucharest's most successful italian restaurant. This is the story of Grano, in Floreasca. A good place to enjoy some pasta for lunch while in the area, but also a grocery store where you can find interesting products to bring and enjoy at home.

Intro Design Concept

When it comes to finding authentic Italian cuisine in town, look no further than Ristorante Da Giulio. Tucked away in a not-so-fancy area, this charming restaurant has been serving up mama-pizza favorites for many years. And let me tell you, their homemade pasta is a game-changer. As a self-proclaimed pasta connoisseur, I can confidently say that Da Giulio knows how to make me very happy. The carbonara with mushrooms is a must-try, bursting with genuine flavors. If you're looking for a night out with exceptional Italian cuisine, Da Giulio is the place to be.

Frudisiac is a sort of second Swedish embassy for Romania. The place offers the traditional "Fika", which is an institution in the Scandinavian country. The coffee comes from Drop Coffee, one of the well known coffee roasters in Stockholm. You'll definitely enjoy the menu, and I guess the picture below will speak for itself. Smaklig måltid!

Dizainăr

From the same team that did regretted A1 and A3, Ai Sushi Bar offers obviously pretty-and-tasty sushi. But it doesn't stop at sushis, as they offer all kind of warm dishes, usually with some kind of asian-fusion touch, from Indian to Japanese (so pretty large palette yes). And more than that, they also serve a breakfast their relaxed terrace. Terrace that reminded me of one of the most Parisian one from Bucharest. Finally, they strike my most sensitive cord to make sure I'm fully seduced, serving local craft beer.

Dedicated to Bucharest urban fashion, OP Shop is one of those shop where you can find unique articles of clothing while keeping the price pretty affordable. From the shoes, to any wearable memory of times we might have forgotten, strolling around the Dumbovita may bring you something new to wear and shine in society.

What a cute little place. Who could think such coziness was, in a way, home to activism. Activism might be a strong word, that gets softer when it comes melting in your mouth. Indeed Arome is one of the only vegetarian restaurants of Bucharest. Even though they don't market themselves as such, I don't remember seeing anything meaty on the menu. Removing one of the most-used ingredients (especially here in Romania) brings a great advantage: you get creative. Creative with ingredients, creative with flavors, and that's actually what I like the most when going to Arome. I know I'm not going to eat something I would find anywhere else, and I know it's going to be good.
Oh and one last thing: when summer comes, they become a strong favorite in the 'cutest-garden-around-town' competition. Yes I know what you're thinking, it's perfect for dates too. Officially flirt-approved.

From its minimal blue/yellow logo and name, I was expecting Sardin to be a fish restaurant with a Swedish touch. How wrong was I. This is (okay, challenge me) probably the best Italian food I’ve had in Bucharest. Designed by Corvin Cristian, the mastermind architect behind Paine și Vin, Moony, Boema and many more of Bucharest’s finest spots, Sardin is an invitation to revel in authentic and fresh mediterranean cooking at its best.
The chef, Radu, who spent 18 years in Italy working with several starred chefs, is a freak for carefully-picked, seasonal ingredients. As we sometimes say in French, you can order with your eyes closed, you’ll be in for a treat. But you might as well keep them open, as Sardin is a feat for all senses. Highly recommended: the beef tartar, the salata de caracatița or any of the fresh pasta. Add to this an impressive wine list with over 100 Italian and Romanian picks to choose from, a sunbathed terrace and impeccable service -- and you get a killer fancy dining spot to enjoy on a date.

The smell, the taste, the lights, and the atmosphere of Mexico in one place, in less than 10 minutes away from the old town. This is what Taqueria El Torito is about. A different concept than the other El Torito restaurant, with a different menu too. The Taqueria has a spacious terrace for groups of people desiring to spend some good time together, and if you want to dance, please do not feel shy about it.

L'Atelier offers one of the finest menu for French cuisine amateurs in Bucharest. The meals are prepared by Samuel Le Torriellec and his team, in a cozy haut de gamme atmosphere, at the entrance of Epoque Hotel, near Cismigiu. You'll also be impressed by the selection of wines mostly from Romania and France, but also from Italy, Chile, Moldova or Spain.

L'Atelier-l'art culinaire

Many say that French Revolution is the place where the eclairs are actually better than in France. Hardly believable, some would say. But I can assure you never had I so much pleasure eating an eclair before going to French Revolution. On top of eclairs, they now also provide excellent specialty coffee from Origo. Not the worst combo for a sweet break.

Finding decent sushi in Bucharest is actually becoming an easy task these days. Finding the right spot to chill out on a date while practising your chopstick skills could be a little more tricky. Discreetly tucked away on Serban Voda, 10 minutes south of Piata Unirii, Sushi Garden is exactly that type of spot.

One of the first sushi place opened in Bucharest, Sushi Garden serves good, fresh sushi & sashimi, an awesome chicken katsu, but you might want to save some room for their green tea ice cream or banana maki. What really makes Sushi Garden stand out is its quiet laid-back terrace, perfect for enjoying a Japanese beer while marveling at their tiny pond — filled with, you guessed it, more fish. If you’re going through one of those really lazy days, no worries, Sushi Garden also delivers.

DRIP Coffee Shop is the one of the newest specialty cafe in town. It is the first cafe to open near Carol Park, good news for all those who were wondering where to buy a good espresso before going for a sunny walk in the park. Their inspiring turquoise and grey design, as well as their retractable window are making this place somehow different from many others. They serve coffee from Barcelona with 'Right Side', one of the greatest roasteries in Spain.

When in 2004 the National Museum of Contemporary Art have moved to the House of the People, the modernity, the iconoclasm and the diversity  entered big time into what was once the center of Ceausescu’s dictatorial power. 
For almost 15 years now, a complete part of this slightly megalomaniac building is dedicated to what the best Romanian and international contemporary art world has to offer in Bucharest. 
3 big modular stairs are dedicated to artists for screenings, installations and other various types of exhibitions.
And because such a museum can delight all of your senses, get ready to find the bar and the rooftop terrace. While the first part of the day can witness from time to time nice brunches, it is often taken over by some pretty nice parties later on.

National Museum of Contemporary Art

You too will be a rocker, my son. Just around the corner from Parcul Carol, Fabrica is one of the last alternative strongholds resisting the gentrification of Bucharest since the tragic events that happened at Colectiv in 2015. Set in yet another refurbished industrial compound (a former socks factory under Ceaușecu), Fabrica is home to a mostly indie crowd, who comes at night to enjoy the classic equation [beer x food x live music], or socialize on the graffiti-covered terrace with their kids and dogs - or bikes - during weekends. 
Fabrica has grown into an alternative mini-village: a pub, two clubs (Club Fabrica & B52), and laid out around the central yard, half a dozen shops (skateboards, streetwear, vintage furniture and accessories, motorbiking gear) as well as a climbing wall. One of the latest additions is Gateway VR, a tiny but cool entertainment center where you can experience virtual reality, run by a friendly and knowledgeable team.

Fabrica

Garage Cafe is a cafe which literally stands in a Garage. The ones from Timisoara may think that it is a franchise from their own Garage Cafe, but there is just zero connection between both places, besides the fact that both sell coffee. Having acquired the garage last year, they are moving to the next step by adding a van that will be offering coffee in different places in Bucharest in no time. The only problem now is that they might need a garage to put the van...

Steam Pop Up on Piata Charles de Gaulle replaced former Steam Uruguay's iconic location for coffee lovers. Steam is basically one of the first spots delivering specialty coffee in the whole city. A straightforward setup: a Victoria Arduino espresso machine, a brew bar, some cookies, but above all, great baristas. Expect the Steam team to be the dream team to provide excellent coffee.

Established in a former cotton factory, shared with places like Gastrobar Deschis and TOT, Nod makerspace is not your usual co-working space.
While many entrepreneurs focus on software or services, some other took a more 'physical' path. Nod makerspace gathers around itself architects, designers and freelancers in an environment prone to craft work. They recently welcomed a new neighbor: 'Mater' is a library of materials unique in Romania. It comes as a perfect addition for the makers of the space looking to properly 'feel' any material they might need in their creation process. 
Nod also hosts a very strong and developed community spirit. A community that recently elected democratically their new community manager. And even better, a community open to the outside. From a personal experience I've got to experience the warm welcome they give to anyone in need of their expertise.
While we often see Timpuri Noi as an up-and-coming creative and business-oriented neighborhood, it might also be the next-step for Bucharest's collaborative communities with the likes of places like Nod or Impact Hub.

Bob Coffee Lab is more than a coffee shop. It is a lab, owned by two dogs with international recognition in the coffee scene, where roasting, trainings, and preparing coffee drinks are few of the options that can be mentioned to describe what's going on there. We particularly like the house, shared with the Mikkeller guys, where you can chill before enjoying a walk in Herastrau Park. Coffee lovers, you can also grab some coffee for home.


BOB Coffee Lab

While few unsensitive people could see Bucharest as a mess, I definitely prefer to talk about the city as a patchwork. You’ve probably heard about the city tour called « Bucharest, the old little Paris, the new little Berlin », and If I still didn’t find any Currywurst in town (let me know if you hear about a good place), among blocks and Brutalist architecture, Club Guesthouse could be one of the reason why Bucharest is more and more compared with the german capital.
As a reflex, You’ve probably checked on Resident Advisor, where to spend your nights here and there are 100 percent of chances that Guesthouse catched your attention. Very good. 
While some clubs are closed during the summer or prefer to diversify their lines up (which is very good too!), Guesthouse, besides being open all year long, is fully dedicated to techno, house and underground electronic music. The Guys know their stuff and I've never been disappointed by any parties I’ve been to, au contraire. Note that’s it’s probably less complicated to be admitted there than at Berghain, just that they don’t have any dark room (if the idea might have interested you). Is your booty asking your brain for a 48h shaking? Then you found the spot.

Club Guesthouse

If you’re looking to escape the cluttered Centrul Vechi and get some perspective, head south to Timpuri Noi, a neighbourhood that’s poised to become one of the new major creative areas of the city within the next years. Set atop Industria Bumbacului, a revamped industrial compound home to the amazing NOD Makerspace, Deschis has one of the most enjoyable - and biggest - rooftops in Bucharest, overlooking the Dâmbovita river.

A kid-friendly spot with its own sandbox, Deschis sometimes hosts outdoor screenings, and can become pretty crowded (with creative folks) when the weather gets nice. The terrace is a killer spot for drinks, but if you come for the burgers, make sure you book beforehand. Like often in Bucharest, the space fills up in a matter of minutes. Finding the place can be a bit tricky as there’s no sign, but just climb up the stairs at 160 Splaiul Unirii and head for the skies. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch one of the best sunset views on a hot summer day.

"Ceci n'est pas un café". You might be familiar with the Anti-café concept. Seneca offers all-you-can-eat fruits and biscuits, with unlimited tea of all sorts. You don't pay for what you consume, but for the time you spend there (a fair price of 8 RON per hour). The place does not server coffee (sacrebleu!) but only tea and natural lemonades. Filled with books, Seneca is this hybrid between non-café, library and co-working space. Actually, after a bit of flirting with the place, you can go to second base by subscribing to a monthly plan. Pretty quiet and relax, it gets even more quiet in the "quiet-room", made fore the ones who really need to focus without any of the slightest disturbance. May it be to read, meet a friend or work, Seneca is definitely a cozy place with a generous soul.

Bocca Lupo is the mix of Italian cuisine and great design which makes you feel so well there.  You will love the spacious area and decor, the lack of terrible loud music that you can find in many other restaurants in the city, and obviously the food. Located in the Eroilor district, Bocca Lupo is the type of place that fits everyone. You can bring your partner for a romantic night, you can go with some friends and have a bunch of pizzas, or you can even do business dinners there for bigger groups, if you feel like doing it in a place which looks a bit different from what you're used to.

Zissou took over what used to be "Two Minutes 2". You haven't heard about it yet ? The real question is: "Is this place the smallest cafe in Europe?" We don't have the answer yet, but what we know is that the total space is about 4 sqm divided in two. One side for the barista who will prepare your coffee drink. The other side for you, if you feel like taking a sit there. If you want it to go, obviously they'll make it possible !  

The place is small, true, but the environment is friendly, making you stay probably longer. As they say, they got inspired by Wes Anderson's universe. Feel free to have a look at what it means.

ZISSOU Coffee Shop

Specialty coffee before going to work, or during a lunch break? On-Off is making it possible. Located in Floreasca Business Park, their wonderful White Eagle espresso machine will be helping the barista to prepare tasty coffee drinks for you to keep you energetic when needed. They also have snacks and sandwiches for the hungry birds.

In the rather hipsterish Bucharest bar scene, the intimate Beat Bar has a soul of its own. Relocated in 2017 from the Jewish district and in 2023 from the more central Vasile Lascar to Calea Plevnei, Beat Bar has kept intact its unique bohemian vibe, a blend of cultural references that go from the Beat poets to classic French cinema, with a touch of jazz and other alternative music. 

Here, the playlist is open to everyone, and you’ll soon find yourself starting a discussion with a stranger, local or traveller, drinking the night away at a screening of some edgy arthouse movie, at an occasional pop-up yard sale (vinyls, sneakers), or during one of its many concerts, poetry nights or jam sessions. Beat has a deliberately laid-back avant-garde vibe, thanks to Alexandra, the owner, who’ll happily switch to French to chat about Serge Gainsbourg or the Nouvelle Vague. Just grab a Zaganu or a house cocktail (Culoarea Rodiei, Applesinth, Rum in Flames), head for the terrace, and experience the unique feeling of being somewhat totally disconnected from Bucharest.

Orygyns Aviatiei is the first place offering specialty coffee which opened on Aviatiei-Pipera business district, willing to offer good coffee for the corporate world. But it doesn't mean that the cafe does provide coffee on weekdays only, you can also order your favourite drink during weekends, until 3pm. Please note that you'll not be able to take a sit easily there, as the place is quite small and sees most of its customers ordering coffee to go. But if you're lucky, a bench will be waiting for you.

ORYGYNS Specialty Coffee Aviatiei

I still don't know when is the best season to go to Ceainaria Infinitea? When Bucharest is under the snow, the tea place is probably one of the greatest spots where to find refuge and get a hot drink. In summer, their lovely terrace will be the perfect spot to have a break after having spent some time walking in Cotroceni area, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Have a tea for sure, but don't feel shy and order one of their cheese cakes as well. They are unique.

A little coffee shop, located at the intersection between Strada Traian, Bd Dacia and Calea Mosilor, serving coffee from Dropshot. This area of Bucharest definitely needs to see more specialty coffee shops. Glad they opened.

RUA Espresso Bar

Street food at its best. Pizza Maestro is, in my opinion, the local way of doing italian fast food pizzas, with fresh ingredients and a real neapolitan pizza oven. So, if you end up walking on Mosilor in the evening, or look for a warm snack to eat while in the area, you have your new spot. Pofta buna !

In Bucharest since 2014, Switch.eat belongs to this type of places locals have on their list when they look for a burger. They have obviously various beef burger alternatives, but also pulled pork, lamb and vegan burgers. Not willing to have a burger? They've got you covered with their quesadillas, chili con carne and more.

Their large terrace under the sun is the perfect spot for a pleasant moment with a bunch of friends.

Sometimes you walk in without expectations and just get caught.

Soro Lume did that to me, what an experience.

First, the menu is short, but provides a lot of diversity, from vegan to fish through meat. You will only find signature dishes and I'm definitely planning to test it all.

Second, if you have the chance to eat, facing the open kitchen outside, witnessing dishes being prepared with wood fire, from grill to oven. Raw elements perfectly cooked separately and then gathered by the chef in ceramic plates. Simple but very well executed. Top notch detail : the bread is baked in the oven on demand

Third, the wine selection is as great as the music playlist. Expect lautari, and other balkanic vibes.

Let me be vocal about it, Soro Lume is definitely one of my best food experience in Bucharest.

The shop has become more than just a place to buy records; it's a communal hub where Bucharest's DJs come together to celebrate their shared love for music.

Surrounded by Sicilian-style tiles, you will eat in Sicilian-style painted plates typical Sicilian dishes. Couldn't be more Sicilian, right? Well, actually it could. Even the staff is Sicilian.

The menu is huge because you can choose whatever you want to have in your pasta, pizza, arancini or risotto. 

They have signature dishes that are worth trying. And of course all the beverages, including crafted Sicilian Colas, Lemonades and more.

At Zece La Rece, we don't promote only food and drinks places which we like, we also mention places adding a lot of added-value to this city and to this country. EFdeN stands for f(n). n being equal to nature.

So, what is EFdeN ? It is a project started by a group of students willing to make Romania a more sustainable country. How do they do it? Well, it is not that simple, but basically they've built a house in 2014, which is completely sustainable and which won many competitions. 

The house is amazing, it is the prototype of the house everything should have. Being an NGO, they don't turn their prototype into a business, but they spend time developing bigger, and even more sustainable houses and devices, aiming to make us live better. 

Why is that? Well, buildings are one of the biggest pollutants both in the construction phase and especially during usage. This argument was enough to convince these 47 students from various universities from Bucharest to collaborate together and dedicate their energy for this project.

So, one advice I can give you is to contact them to pay a visit, it is absolutely worth it. After your visit, you might consider saving a bit of money to buy the house of your dreams.

Kick up your taste buds with a visit to Mathara Bath kade, a canteen in Bucharest that excellently brings the spice-infused flavors of Sri Lanka right to your table. Positioned conveniently in Obor market, this place hosts a small terrace for an intimate, rustic dining experience. Known for its fiery and flavorful cuisine, Mathara Bath kade is quite the hit among Asian food enthusiasts.

Their menu might be a little puzzling for first timers as you self-serve some items like curry, but don't let this deter you. The experience is worth the adventure! Don't skip out on the desserts, which are pretty amazing good!

With the promise of kottus (a distinctive Sri Lankan dish) and a variety of other dishes waiting to tantalize your senses, Mathara Bath kade is the place to return to for a uniquely spicy escapade.

Boogie Bar is all about serving your favorite beverage at a fair price, providing good music which fits with the time of the day you get there, a friendly staff, a lovely terrace for sunny days, and something that reminds me of most bars in Germany, and which can make you stay there for hours: a table football (it's called foosball in Romanian, right?) .

You got it, Boogie is the kind of place that will make you spend some great laughing / playing / dancing / drinking time with a bunch of friends.

In the midst of Bucharest's lively Obor market, you'll discover "OBOR AMOR", a place with radiating unique energy and overflowing with local vibes. This little spot is ideal for taking a pause after a bustling market stroll. Start your morning fresh with their irresistible mini-cocktails or keep the weekend vibes high with some quality daytime drinking.

Amidst the unbeatable location (on the upper terrace of the old hall), the charm of this place skyrockets when you bring snacks from the market to accompany your drinks. Why not get some mici from Terasa Obor and pair them with a refreshing beer and mini Negroni? It's an experience that'll truly light up your day.

OBOR AMOR

Terasa Obor is simply the mici lovers ultimate place! Just ask 10 people randomly what is the best place to eat mici in the city, and I am sure that Terasa Obor will be the big winner (the one on "Team La Cocosatu" will hate me for that). Located straight in the middle of the Obor market, you will probably find people queuing starting early in the morning for some "mici cu bere". Don't be afraid by the queue, these guys are the most efficient BBQ makers in the whole country. Don't forget to get some mustard and some bread for the ultimate experience, and... obviously a beer. No, not a craft one, not even a bit.
Worth mentioning: This place is definitely not vegan.

Terasa Obor

Guido is primarily a roastery, making it a right place to enjoy the smell of freshly roasted beans. Mostly serving coffee bags for home baristas, you can still go for a visit and order your favourite drink. If you want to feel the vibes of a coffee shop and drink the coffee from Guido, go to Fellow One, on Calea Victoriei.

Look at these happy faces. Some of Bucharest greatest coffee people out there, opening a coffee shop and roastery near Piata Iancului. Quiet street, wonderful interior design, and ex-cel-lent coffee. While being a neighborhood coffee shop, against all odds NOMONYM is quickly bringing people from all over the city. NOMONYM is definitely the kind of place you feel like going again and again. I'm starting to wish it could be located straight next to my home. 
Quick heads up: this place has the potential to become your next favorite spot for coffee in town.

NOMONYM Coffee Roastery

As a French, I am not supposed to truly enjoy a place called Waterloo, because it is one of former French Emperor Napoleon's biggest defeat at a battle... But, well, the place is really awesome (and I am not very patriotic...)

For the ones who are not into history, and don't know much about Waterloo, no worries! I don't plan to do any history lesson now. Please just note the Waterloo battle took place in what is now called Belgium. Now guess what? Waterloo taverne is a Belgian restaurant.

What to expect? A selection of belgian beer (bottled or draught), as well as delicious food. I personally recommend their mussels (with Roquefort cheese is even better) or the carbonade. To be mentioned as well, the waiter is extremely friendly, and it deserves to be highlighted!

Waterloo

If you're craving some delicious Georgian cuisine in Bucharest, look no further than Taverna Georgia. This place is a dream come true for all those who have longed for authentic Georgian flavors in Romania.

The menu at Taverna Georgia offers a variety of mouthwatering dishes such as Khinkali and Adjarian Kachapuri. And let's not forget about the excellent selection of Georgian wines or lemonades that perfectly complement your meal.

While I would suggest removing the TVs from the terraces to enhance the overall ambiance, there's no denying that this place excels when it comes to quality food and prompt service.

Overall, if you're looking for great-tasting food accompanied by friendly staff and a welcoming vibe, be sure to check out Taverna Georgia. It's truly an exciting addition to Bucharest's culinary scene!

Taverna Georgia

Romanian food is not necessarily about Mici, Sarmale and Zacusca, and Zexe makes sure people who enjoy a dinner at their restaurant get to know about other specific dishes. Having a focus on food from the interbelic period, they put on the menu some recipes which have somehow disappeared from today's romanian cuisine. As they say : "Pronounce in a loud voice, holding your right hand on your heart, the password: ZEXE! " when you arrive there. It will make you become one of those enthusiastic people willing and determined to put the Romanian gastronomy on the map of European culinary values.

Zexe - Zahanaua Gastronomică

Our Ukrainian and Bulgarian neighbors have this concept since many years now, and it is great to see Artizan Beer doing the same job in Romania.

You can now buy draught craft beer to your home, and by liter. Indeed, they fill bottles of 1L from the draught and all you do is to pay for the quantity you ordered. This is also much cheaper than buying 33cl bottles of beer. While we advice to consume alcohol responsibly, just make sure that once you open the bottle, it should be drank relatively quickly if you want your beer to remain tasty, as you can't really store it for a week, once you opened the bottle. 

I think this is the perfect concept for house parties. You can throw big home events with quality beer at a competitive price.

If you still prefer to drink your beer in 33cl bottles, please note that they also have fridges with a nice selection of craft beer.

Artizan Beer - Bere Artizanală Românească

How to tell if a French restaurant is really a good and true French restaurant. Simple answer: you have to see french nationals dining there. Ici et Là passes that crucial test, with the honors from the jury, as each time I could find at least one table singing the sweet melody of French to my... well french ears. Ici et La exists since many years, but since they relocated on Strada Domnita Ruxandra, I have to admit that the experience is even better than what it used to be. Located in a beautifully renovated house, surrounded by a welcoming a terrace, I suggest you try their tartare beef if you are into raw meat. No worries, if it is not your cup of tea, there are other options which will satisfy your palate for sure.
And not to forget a must for any french restaurant: a great wine list.
And a bonus:  some craft beer from One Beer Later, brewed by another French man in Buzau.

There's an italian word for a place where you can taste and buy a decent variety of wines: Enoteca.

How many different bottles would you consider being "decent" then?

Ginoteca brings the concept of an Enoteca around Gin, and with a choice of... near hundred different gins. Keep in mind that each single gin has its own cocktail recipe. Decent enough, right?

Wood and Ivy decorated, hosting fresh herbs and fruits, the place offers a nice room upstairs and a real nice and cozy terrace outside.

If you’re nostalgic about the late 80s and the 90s, the brand new Replace location on Armeneasca might be your perfect spot to sneak for some cool garments while enjoying some great songs from the boom bap times. And great music comes with delicious coffee, you won’t be disappointed. They provide excellent specialty coffee from different roasters! Sunbathing with my morning coffee on the spot, while listening to Notorious B.I.G felt like I was in Brooklyn for a moment.
