Established in a former cotton factory, shared with places like Gastrobar Deschis and TOT, Nod makerspace is not your usual co-working space.
While many entrepreneurs focus on software or services, some other took a more 'physical' path. Nod makerspace gathers around itself architects, designers and freelancers in an environment prone to craft work. They recently welcomed a new neighbor: 'Mater' is a library of materials unique in Romania. It comes as a perfect addition for the makers of the space looking to properly 'feel' any material they might need in their creation process. 
Nod also hosts a very strong and developed community spirit. A community that recently elected democratically their new community manager. And even better, a community open to the outside. From a personal experience I've got to experience the warm welcome they give to anyone in need of their expertise.
While we often see Timpuri Noi as an up-and-coming creative and business-oriented neighborhood, it might also be the next-step for Bucharest's collaborative communities with the likes of places like Nod or Impact Hub. 

Nod makerspace

While few unsensitive people could see Bucharest as a mess, I definitely prefer to talk about the city as a patchwork. You’ve probably heard about the city tour called « Bucharest, the old little Paris, the new little Berlin », and If I still didn’t find any Currywurst in town (let me know if you hear about a good place), among blocks and Brutalist architecture, Club Guesthouse could be one of the reason why Bucharest is more and more compared with the german capital.
As a reflex, You’ve probably checked on Resident Advisor, where to spend your nights here and there are 100 percent of chances that Guesthouse catched your attention. Very good. 
While some clubs are closed during the summer or prefer to diversify their lines up (which is very good too!), Guesthouse, besides being open all year long, is fully dedicated to techno, house and underground electronic music. The Guys know their stuff and I've never been disappointed by any parties I’ve been to, au contraire. Note that’s it’s probably less complicated to be admitted there than at Berghain, just that they don’t have any dark room (if the idea might have interested you). Is your booty asking your brain for a 48h shaking? Then you found the spot.

Club Guesthouse

If you’re looking to escape the cluttered Centrul Vechi and get some perspective, head south to Timpuri Noi, a neighbourhood that’s poised to become one of the new major creative areas of the city within the next years. Set atop Industria Bumbacului, a revamped industrial compound home to the amazing NOD Makerspace, Deschis has one of the most enjoyable - and biggest - rooftops in Bucharest, overlooking the Dâmbovita river.

A kid-friendly spot with its own sandbox, Deschis sometimes hosts outdoor screenings, and can become pretty crowded (with creative folks) when the weather gets nice. The terrace is a killer spot for drinks, but if you come for the burgers, make sure you book beforehand. Like often in Bucharest, the space fills up in a matter of minutes. Finding the place can be a bit tricky as there’s no sign, but just climb up the stairs at 160 Splaiul Unirii and head for the skies. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch one of the best sunset views on a hot summer day.

Teahouse 5 is one of the places you would enjoy spending your sunny days, having a great selection of tea and other fresh drinks that you can enjoy in a wonderful terrace, belonging to Podstel, the coolest hostel in Romania they say. The travel community often meets there, and we all sometimes feel like discovering like-minded people, from each corner of this world.

One of the most famous places to go out in town, that we particularly like for its industrial architecture, its temporary exhibitions, the variety of music played there at events, its outdoor area,  its people, and many other things that can be understood after a great night there.

Not sure if you heard about it, but Naples is known worldwide for being THE capital of pizzas in Italy (read "in the world"). Mamizza is a new concept bringing Neapolitan pizzas (and cuisine) to Bucharest, helped with the traditional brick pizza oven, visible from the main room, and even from outside. The cozy atmosphere makes you feel home, and a big thumb up for the old neapolitan grandma graffiti on the wall. I can't forget to talk about the menu, which is divided between traditional pizzas with a selection of re-invented ones, a great way to open your appetite. Another plus, while Naples pizzerias have decided to continue to offer dark roasted coffee to their citizens, Mamizza made the decision to bring specialty coffee to its menu.

Located few steps away from Unirii, Emozia will come to you as a refuge in a small cobblestone alley, where coffee enthusiasts will find great coffee, as well as a selection of amazing coffee related books to read on site. We particularly like the community table there, giving you the chance to socialize with other guests.

Let me tell you at at least three reasons why Manasia Hub is so special. 
First: Manasia used to be a Police station. Seems though that the Ministry of Internal Affairs got a budget cut and had to sell half of the building. As a result the building is now divided in two: A bar on the left, the police station on the right. As Cut-Killers' vynils would scream in the movie "La Haine": Assassin de la police!
Ok moving on: second fun fact, upstairs you can play ping-pong from the right hand, drink a beer from the left one, and escape on the dance floor when the pressure of the tie-break gets too high. Talking about the dance floor, it is actually one of those places where I would recommend the music. Homie feel from the invited DJs, songs you won't hear anywhere else... If tonight's party fits you, relax, enjoy and turn on automatic pilot. 
The third good reason will touch your heart in it's most summer-ish memories: the terrace is made to chill with your friends. It feels a bit like a neighborhood party, where you would like to get the grill out and share a meal. No need to bring the grill though, as they usually invite their friends' foodtruck "Bucateria". Oh and let me tell you, those guys will rock your taste buds.
Finally, fourth (I said four right?): good to know but Manasia is not mainly a bar. It is actually more like a cultural hub. Artists stay here as a residence, and participate by bartending among other things to its community.

We love bookstores, and we also love the ones who open a place bringing added value to the community. Dispozitiv Books is a mix of both.

We've met so many (read "too many") people in Eastern Europe talking about how bad is their country, how poor it is, how boring it is. But as foreigners living in Romania, and who've been travelling a lot in the region, we've seen a lot of nice things that we couldn't necessarily share on a piece of paper. Why does that matter?

Simply because Dispozitiv Books is an unique bookstore focusing on content promoting Eastern European countries, and especially Romania. Most of the books and magazines share insights about specific topics you'd never think about, and which will make you realize that the place where you live is not that bad after all. Aubergine is a perfect example of the type of restaurant we all would like to see more in Centrul Vechi. You know, that restaurant where no one stands outside to ask you if you'd like to eat something in 5 languages until they figure out you're not a tourist.

Mediterranean cuisine on the menu, which doesn't mean italian cuisine necessarily. Here, you'll find some of the typical lebanese/israeli dishes, as well as other moroccan influenced meals, an amazing selection of fish and meat. I particularly love the importance of vegetables in each plates they serve and the way it is cooked.

At Aubergine, good cuisine goes with beautiful design. Between two courses, have a look at these doors fixed on the wall. It really looks great !

As you might expect from the coffee shop above Bucharest's official SCA barista school, First Coffee serves tremendous coffee. Driven by a passion for sharing good coffee with the world, it has been filling cups with delicious black stuff since early 2018. With a focus on the whole supply chain, from grower to cup, the care and attention paid by its staff and owners is self-evident. 

The name itself emphasises their intentions - that at First Coffee, you'll always remember your first great coffee - that first sip that made you fall in love with specialty coffee; when you first felt how much effort and expertise went into your cup. A champion of the specialty coffee community in Romania and beyond, the shop often presents experts from around the world, hosting regular cuppings, training sessions and experimental social events.
 
Beside relaxing in their bright and comfortable lounge with your drink and one of their delicious cakes, they also sell a wide range of coffee-making equipment, accessories and books.

Conveniently located, right beside the Piata Sf. Gheorghe Tram Station, it's a great spot to visit any time you're in the Old Town/Unirii/Universtate area. Especially with their new wireless phone charging dock, First Coffee is a a great place to recharge your notions about coffee.

Trust me, you’ll want to live in this house. From the inviting entrance to the laid-back garden terrace, from the basement brick bar to the open kitchen floor and nordic-style attic, Simbio screams coziness on all levels. Since relocating from the old city centre to the more quiet Armenian district, Simbio has become a favorite among urbanites for late brunches and lazy breakfasts. Come for the eggs (benedict, norwegian, florentine), come back for the burgers (finally a place where they don’t overcook the meat), come again for the OMG pancakes. Weekday tip: check out their lunch menu which changes daily. Weekend tip: make a reservation, as always.

Simbio

Papila Kitchen is a place carefully composed by skilful hands; as careful as if they were selecting the meats on a charcuterie board. Keeping tabs on taste, aspect and cohesion, Maria Burachu and Gabriel Herdean have created a kitchen resembling an anecdote you tell your dearest friends over a glass of wine. Every flavour is considered: sweet tableware, savoury furniture, sour textiles, umami lights and not a hint of bitterness. With the support of their most talented friends, they have succeed in putting together an international kitchen - basically a living room of taste where you go out with your dearest people, family and friends.

The menu, developed, tested and implemented by Chef Vasile Nicolae, is inspired by different parts of the world and, more importantly, is built on seasonal dishes. The soup section includes a thai soup to warm you up from the inside out, as well as a cream tomato soup with the perfect texture. For sandwich lovers, there’s beef with goulash sauce and roasted bell pepper. But they also have one with home grown chicken, camembert and garlic puree! What to choose?! 

Papila is also very-vegan-friendly, since their all-vegetable sandwich is fantastic. The drinks are well-selected: coffee and specialty teas, craft beer and various liquid mixes with fruits and aromatic herbs.

Everything Maria and Gabriel did at Papila, they did with a sole goal in mind: expressing the best versions of themselves. Bring your taste buddies here and you won’t regret it.

Deplastificat

LVEV, for La Vita E Velo, and not for Lviv, the Ukrainian city. LVEV is a shop located in the city center, selling hip bicycle brands such as Brompton, Brooks, Pashley and Electra. But that's not all, LVEV is also a coffee shop, using beans from Madison prepared on a La Marzocco and also offering a brunch menu. The large vitrines makes it a great spot for the ones looking for a cozy atmosphere while enjoying the light coming from outside. The tables from the Mezzanine are also bringing their added-value, being able to welcome large-ish groups of people to gather together around a cup of coffee.

LVEV

One of the most notorious places when it comes to burgers. Yes, it's Modelier!

But don't believe Modelier is only about burgers. They also excel in the art of preparing waffles and cocktails.

You can enjoy these delicious products in a nice house from the "Interbelic" period, or at their colorful terrace.

Vegans, step aside. Linea is pretty much for meat lovers. New places get trendy real fast, so back to rule #1: Always Make A Reservation. As you exit the elevator on the 4th floor of the Interbelic building, the first thing you’ll notice is the big, bustling char & grill kitchen (thank goodness, it’s enclosed). Stretching over the full length of the building, the dining space and bar are impressive, with a nice modern design. If you’re into beef and really hungry, go for the brisket, a one-of-a kind experience in Bucharest. Burgers rate pretty high, and the wine list has some very nice and quite fancy offerings.  

One floor up is Closer to the Moon, the new contender in the raging Bucharest Rooftops War. Stretching over a narrow but seemingly endless terrace, lined with a loooooong mural by Bucharest graffiti artists Sweet Damage Crew, Closer to the Moon offers a stunning view of western Bucharest and the Parliament (yes, sunsets do get awesome here). This winter, the rooftop is host to a dozen private heated igloos (more like small transparent plastic domes), where you can enjoy a drink or eat closer to the skies. Don’t expect to find one unless you’ve made a reservation. But once you’re in, come rain or snow, just text the waiter your order. Titania here, bring on the ţuica fiartă!

Linea / Closer To The Moon

Buoni e bravi is one of those places that, someday, open at the corner of your street. It might be a small street, a square or an avenue. In our story it is a square. A square named Piata Rosetti. For a few days you pass in front wondering what is happening behind those tall windows... But always on the rush, it's only at night that the idea of giving it a try comes to your mind. And once again it's too late, they already closed. Damn those small teams trying to preserve the quality of their product by opening only a small chunk of the day! When will we synchronize you and me?
 
But then something strange starts happening. The entrance door refuses to close, as you need to leave space for the line inside. Not only, as a few days later, some more people start popping up, and the line extends to the sidewalk. And it keeps coming, never stops. Your colleagues from work start saying "who wants pizza from Buoni e bravi?" even if the office is 30mn away from the enchanted slices... There must be something to this place. And here it is, from 18:00 they extended to 20:00 and finally you can taste the answer to your question. The classic story of a pizza-place that needed less than a year to become a reference in downtown Bucharest. A tip on their strategy: the quality and generosity of the ingredients. Sometimes it doesn't take much more than this.

Buoni e bravi

I often hear about people telling that it is impossible to eat great fish in Bucharest. But I also often get asked if there is a place where one can eat delicious fish and sea food in Bucharest.

The first place that comes to my mind is Ivan Pescar, providing the fish experience in a way one may have never experienced before. Indeed, this restaurant is not the traditional Mediterranean restaurant where you'll get your fish seasoned with olive oil and herbes de Provence. Ivan Pescar is all about the Danube Delta, the birthplace of Ivan Patzaichin, one of Romania's legends. Ivan Patzaichin won four Olympic medals and nine World Championship medals in canoeing. You understood correctly, Ivan Patzaichin is also the owner of Ivan Pescar, the spotlight for Danube Delta's cuisine in Bucharest (-but also in Tulcea), with Lipovean chefs in the kitchen.

The fish menu is by far one of my favorites, and, as you know, fish goes always with wine... Honestly, I could spend quite a lot of time complimenting the wine list as well, but I'd rather let you explore it by yourself... Enjoy !

Ivan Pescar & Scrumbia Bar (Kingfisher Ivan & Shad Bar)

T-Zero (tea-zee-roh / tO / To / t-zee raw, well as you wish) is one of the first cafes offering specialty coffee in town, and most certainly the tinest. You basically have two options: or you take it to go / or you manage to have a sit in one of the two or three chairs available and you'll have the pleasure to talk to the team being working a meter away from you. But no worries, they are very cool guys, you will enjoy buying your cup of coffee from there.

T-Zero Specialty Coffee Shop

This small café is one of the first places to offer specialty coffee in Bucharest. Origo is not only the name of a café, but also one of the most successful roasteries in Romania. Each time you get there, a selection of two types of coffees will be presented by the baristas, to make sure they’ll prepare the coffee that suits the best for you. Excellence is one of the key words describing Origo. Indeed, the café sees some of their baristas participating to World Coffee championships every year, most of the time bringing good results.

French fries may come first in people's mind when it's about  going to eat something at Energia, and if indeed they are delicous, let's bring justice to the place saying that, definitly no, it is not a potato restaurant as Energia has much more to offer. I'd rather see the place as a nice urban restaurant where you can combine a drink with healthy food in cool environment, previously known as  a printing house of the same name.
Cultural events and concerts also contribute  to  make  of Energia an interesting choice for a first place where to start or to prepare your party, before losing your soul into the night.
Then, no matter what your plan is, still, don't forget also to order french fries...

Energiea

Just when you thought you’d give up bread, this comes up. Pâine si vin, or the promise of a delightfully sinful absolution for any respectable Frenchman. Located just off Blvd Regina Elisabeta in a tastefully designed space, Pâine si vin is a welcome addition to the Bucharestean foodie scene, as everything here revolves around simple pleasures, mastered to near perfection. 
And not just bread, but flatbread, pizza, flammkuche (the Flemish caloric bomb), Indian Naans, Mexican Tortillas, Swedish Knäckebröd, topped with the most exquisite ingredients, all carefully selected from Romanian producers, making up the most international menu any breadlover could dream of. As if that wasn’t enough, Pâine si vin also serves excellent platters you can share, whether you’re a cold cuts aficionado or a vegetarian. The icing on the cake — so to speak — is the remarkable wine list, mostly from Romania and Moldova. If you'd rather stay sober, try their infused waters, both still and sparkling, they’ll cheer you up all the same.
Two important things to keep in mind before getting absolved: Pâine si vin opens at 5pm, and does not accept reservations. And a third, that could come in handy if you’d rather impress your date at home: they also deliver a small selection from their menu.

Pâine și Vin

You should by all means check out Kane, the latest venture from the team behind M60, a beautifully designed bistro on the more fancy side. The good: they have chosen to work only with small, hand-picked Romanian producers, and focus on seasonal products. The great: well… the food. Creative, tasty, and focused (a single-page menu, finally!), everything here is a fresh new take on tradition. The unique: the staff at Kane know the story behind every dish, and such attention to detail is a blessing. The bonus: homemade bread & butter. Fun fact: the lush urban design revolves around Greenery, Pantone's color of the year 2017.

Rick Berkelmans (Hedof) masterpiece in the yard of the Ion Mincu University is one of the things most of people visiting Bucharest don't know about. Some other paintings can be found around. How to get there? During weekdays when the students are there, or eventually during the weekend if you kindly ask the security, hoping that they're having a good day!

Modul is the new-born kid of Carturesti, which opened at the University of Architecture and Urbanism Ion Mincu. More than a bookshop, Modul is also a cultural hub and an urban garden, which aims to welcome book launches, exhibitions, conferences, and people willing to do any type of creativity oriented activities, for work or for fun. They also serve drinks, for the ones in need for some hot beverages and juices.

Nestled on Regina Elizabeta boulevard, Balls. is bursting with flavour, from its zingy interior design to its delicious selection of meat (and vegetarian!) balls. Its menu features chiftele adaptations from around the world, as well as seasonal guest recipes from its passionate chefs. This is homely food made with love and served with fun. And 50% off all food every Monday! How could you resist? Get some Balls.!

When in 2004 the National Museum of Contemporary Art have moved to the House of the People, the modernity, the iconoclasm and the diversity  entered big time into what was once the center of Ceausescu’s dictatorial power. 
For almost 15 years now, a complete part of this slightly megalomaniac building is dedicated to what the best Romanian and international contemporary art world has to offer in Bucharest. 
3 big modular stairs are dedicated to artists for screenings, installations and other various types of exhibitions.
And because such a museum can delight all of your senses, get ready to find the bar and the rooftop terrace. While the first part of the day can witness from time to time nice brunches, it is often taken over by some pretty nice parties later on.

National Museum of Contemporary Art

While some people would refer to it as « the restaurant above club Control », Alt Shift is a bit more than that. Launched in 2015 by the owners of Shift, Alt Shift has it all: perfect central location, really good food, impeccable service, a wide choice of Romanian (but not only) wines and smashing desserts, in a cool post-industrial design that also feels homey. You could only wish all places had that level of quality and attention to detail, while also remaining affordable… 

This is a keeper, and you’ll find yourself coming back to enjoy its trendy vibe during weekends or more laid-back during the week. During daytime, when the season allows, you can also eat out on the awesome terrace of Control. A couple of things to keep in mind: always remember to make a reservation, and if you’ve been lured up here from the club to enjoy the great pizzas, make sure you come after midnight (that’s when the night shift menu comes to life!).

Alt Shift

Everyone has a love-hate relationship with Control but let’s admit that, at one point (almost) everyone ends up coming back. Since the communist era the place has seen the birth of many (more or less) ephemerals couple. Back then the place was known as a restaurant called “Berlin”, to which Control Club payed its respect by naming the main concert room “Sala Berlin”. From Jazz Nouveau’s concerts, to Berghain’s resident DJ set, from Princess Nokia’s feminist Hip-Hop to Gang of Four, Control has offered and still offers high quality events. And if you ever can't find your soul mate for the night, you could always eat your sadness away: go upstairs to Alt-Shift where they serve pretty-delicious-pizzas until the morning.

Control Club

Another Cluj coffee brand in town, opening its second shop at the intersection Brezoianu-Elizabeta, keeping its touch with a great design, and many refreshing signature drinks for the ones willing to explore the taste of specialty coffee beans in non-regular drinks. A newcomer to the neighborhood, making the Brezoianu area more and more some sort of a coffee district of Bucharest. 

Meron Cișmigiu

At Zece La Rece, we don't promote only food and drinks places which we like, we also mention places adding a lot of added-value to this city and to this country. EFdeN stands for f(n). n being equal to nature.

So, what is EFdeN ? It is a project started by a group of students willing to make Romania a more sustainable country. How do they do it? Well, it is not that simple, but basically they've built a house in 2014, which is completely sustainable and which won many competitions. 

The house is amazing, it is the prototype of the house everything should have. Being an NGO, they don't turn their prototype into a business, but they spend time developing bigger, and even more sustainable houses and devices, aiming to make us live better. 

Why is that? Well, buildings are one of the biggest pollutants both in the construction phase and especially during usage. This argument was enough to convince these 47 students from various universities from Bucharest to collaborate together and dedicate their energy for this project.

So, one advice I can give you is to contact them to pay a visit, it is absolutely worth it. After your visit, you might consider saving a bit of money to buy the house of your dreams.



EFdeN

If you're looking for a cozy and cute spot to enjoy some excellent coffee, look no further than Beans&Dots. This concept store is a hidden gem in Bucharest, offering a unique combination of craft beer, specialty coffee, and design. 

Located very close to the park, Beans&Dots has a welcoming and cozy vibe that will make you feel right at home. The service is friendly and the staff will make sure you have a great experience. The place is even pet friendly, with their own resident cats adding to the charm.

Speaking of their drinks, the coffee at Beans&Dots is pure bliss. They serve specialty coffee from The Barn, and each cup is crafted to perfection. Whether you prefer a classic latte or a smooth cappuccino, you won't be disappointed. And if you're feeling hungry, be sure to try their delicious carrot cake or their must-try choco bread.

Beans&Dots offers a spacious layout, both inside and outside, so you can find the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your coffee. The minimalist design adds to the overall aesthetic, creating a sleek and modern atmosphere.

Just a word of caution, during peak times Beans&Dots has a "no laptop" policy, which is fair considering they want to create a welcoming and social environment. But don't worry, you can still enjoy your coffee outside or take a short break on the small stepway.

Why does FIX keep you coming again and again? 

What kind of black magic do they use in their plant-based cocktails to make you fall in love with yet-another-wonder from the Palatul Universul? Being mostly a wine or craft beer drinker myself (good thing, they have it as well), I thought cocktails were more of a fancy-people drink. But Alex Ciomartan hides under his black cap an unstoppable passion for natural flavors that can please any gourmet. Like my uncle use to say, there's two kind of people in this world: the ones who were born to open a botanical bar, and the ones that were made to drink from it. Luckily for Alex, planets aligned, and he happens to be the friendliest guy around to pour you a drink. 

Now that I think about it, maybe that's the recipe for a good place. Feeling welcomed from the first second to the last minute, in a room where the drinks' single-purpose is to be delicious.

FIX - Botanical Bar

Palatul Universul, a name that could have been chosen by the Dacian gods (you know Zalmoxis, Sabazios, Gebeleizis and others). A name they would have given to such a place, knowing it was going to be the home to many wonders, hiding quietly behind the palace's heavy doors.
One of them is to be found at the very deep, where used to sit the imposing printing press of 'Universul', Romania's biggest newspaper in the 1920's. A room so high that the ceilings manage to let in outside light, making it probably the only 'demi-sol' I would love to set my apartment in. Apollo111 is a bar where took place some of the most memorable parties I've seen recently. It is also a theatre, run and curated by actor Bogdan Dumitrache, where are produced and played independent plays. Positioning itself as inter-disciplinary, Apollo111 also hosts from time to time concerts and art exhibitions.

Why are people still going to McDonald's if they can go to Burger Van? Being french and addicted to tender and under-cooked meat, it took a little bit of time to adapt to the Romanian-style (stay safe, cook hard). And one day, after trying a burger here, I felt that finally someone had found the way to talk to my senses. Only downside is that I end up buying burgers at least once a week, if not more. Or is it a downside? In any case the menu remains simple, offering 6 different burgers always made with fresh ingredients. Still hesitating? Well, as they say: Yes... we're open.

Trofic is the brother-in-food from the Origo team. The place opened in 2017 with the willingness to offer not only one of the best coffee in the city, but also great healthy food. Definitely to put on the top list of places where to have a great brunch in Bucharest.

With its 130 seats, Cinema Union isn’t the biggest cinema in town, but it is one of the nicest to any self-respecting cinephile.
Before known as the Romanian Cinemateca, it sets itself as an institution of long tradition as In 1962 the National Film Archives held there their first event. Even if a couple of years later, the location changed, before finally settling down at Strada Ion Câmpineanu, Union’s philosophy remained the same: to reunite cinema lovers around the promotion of cinematographic culture.
For this reason, not only Cinema Union is part of Europas Cinemas, but they also take part in many types of movie festivals, such as One World Romania, NexT or Animest.

In the spring of 2013, Eclecticó Studio became the first showroom in Bucharest specializing in 20th century design. Due to a distinctive, ever-changing décor, it has also hosted various events.
What’s in store: furniture or decorations created by famous designers of the 50’s – 90’s, artworks and decorative items from the second half of the century.

Surrounded by Sicilian-style tiles, you will eat in Sicilian-style painted plates typical Sicilian dishes. Couldn't be more Sicilian, right? Well, actually it could. Even the staff is Sicilian.

The menu is huge because you can choose whatever you want to have in your pasta, pizza, arancini or risotto. 

They have signature dishes that are worth trying. And of course all the beverages, including crafted Sicilian Colas, Lemonades and more.

Sweet or salty? It can be a difficult choice in our everyday routine. Tartelicious will definitely not be a helper when you see how great is their selection of cakes and other quiches and pies. I usually enter in the shop thinking that I will buy one piece of cake and very often get out of the shop with at least two of their delicious products.

First of all, please note that Artichoke is most probably the favorite café among instagramers in Bucharest. The café is located at the end of an archway, near Kretzulescu Church and the Humanitas Library. Diana Anghel, owner of the place, expresses there her love for plants and modernist architecture. That's how Artichoke became this mix between modernist and minimalist, linked with a touch of green. The jungle of Artichoke continuously hosts art exhibitions, usually showcasing local artists between two leaves. Good coffee in a tasteful decor makes people often refer to it as a cozy cocoon, where you end up spending an entire afternoon catching up with your close ones.

You might have a heard about Londophone close to Cismigiu... Well you've found yourself a Londohome now. A good spot if you're a bit curious about Bucharest's music scene. Also a good occasion to chill on the terrace, under the cozy green leaves, and most likely with either a craft beer (Three Happy Brewers, Sikaru, Hop Hooligans...) or why not, an original craft cider from Clarks.

Let's start with an hypothesis: everything that can be heard, tasted or seen, is always better when done with passion and expertise. If this affirmation is valid for music or painting, the people from Bacania Rod truly understood it also applies to food.
While supermarkets also provide Zacusca, Cascaval or Salata de Vinete, beside the name of the product printed on the packaging, the comparaison stops here; and no need to mention the ingredients list.
Your sense of sight will not betray you, even if this might seem like an oasis in the middle of the desert, no mirage here: it tastes as good as it looks.

Bacania ROD

Bucharest and more generally Romania, have a strong and very powerful art history and some places such as Galateca Gallery are here to show that the tradition continues. Conscient of that heritage, the architect Radu Teaca founded the gallery where decades of exhbitions followed one another since the place opened in 2012.  Space of creation particularly active, Galateca has seen succeed various artists from Romania and abroad, all linked around the idea of a  "Romanian Art Energy".  Danse, painting, happening, drawing or sculpture are just few example of what  happened and what it is still presenting there. The same way, Victor Fonta, Frederic Liwer or  Hirotoshi Ito are just few very talented artists  among others  that exhibited their work at the gallery.
Ideally located in Bucharest, close to the Atheum, the National Art Museum or very nice bars and restaurants, Galeteca quickly became one of my favourite art place in town.

The historical French Revolution shop, in front of the Romanian Atheneum, is the perfect sweet refuel place for the ones walking in the center of Bucharest. The choices are the same than at French Revolution Victoriei, but I truely advice you to go ther quite early if you want to make sure you find what you need. Officially closing at 8pm during weekends, French Revolution usually manage to sell all its eclairs at 6pm, tho. Has to be tasty, right?

Caju is a brasserie created by famous chef Joseph Hadad with a desire to bring his own childhood culinary memories to the people of Bucharest. Born in Israel from a Moroccan mother and a Tunisian father, he got influenced by the cuisine from his place of birth, but also by the way his parents were preparing dished. After having spent most of his career working in some of the most prestigious hotels in Paris, London or Berlin, Hadad came to Bucharest to pursue his career at Casa Vernescu.

I am sure we all got this question asked by a friend at some point. While it is true that most "Indian places" in Europe don't really taste like in India, we are actually lucky to have, here in Bucharest, a restaurant offering high quality Indian food for our bellies. This place is Taj.

Taj is located on Calea 13 Septembrie, behind the parliament, and not too far from Marriott hotel. 

And if you are not so much into spicy food, do not worry, as you can still get delicious dishes without shading even the smallest tear.

Looking for a birthday present? Or a Christmas present? Something pretty and crafted by a local designer? Carturesti Verona is the right place to find a great selection of books, as well as other accessories and decorative items. Similarly to the Carturesti from the old center, you can find a cafe inside the building. A good place to stroll around its alleys and forget about how fast is time passing by.

Let’s face it, Blvd Magheru is a drag. But in typical Bucharest fashion, there sometimes are flowers amidst the concrete, or a quiet oasis just a few steps away from the noise. Tucked under (and behind) the beautiful Carturești bookstore, Cafe Verona is a 2-sided retreat: a basement cafe to hibernate-read-work during winter, and an outdoor garden where the trendies wind down when days get warmer. 

Both serve a good mix of fresh, mostly healthy food. The cafe is a perfect shelter from the bustling winter storms, a quiet, comfy brick basement designed with taste and decorated with photographs by local artists, serving a wide range of teas, hot chocolates — and pretty damn good desserts. When the cold days are over, it’s the season of the Gradina, a garden of delights that blossoms with Bucharest’s beautiful people. Though it tends to get crowded fast, it’s a choice destination for reconnecting with your senses. If you’re a lemonade freak, they’ll have you covered with an impressive choice of original flavors. Also make sure to check their week-long or weekend culinary events, a great occasion to taste fine foods and wines brought by producers from all over Romania in a cool atmosphere.

Unlike most places in Bucharest, Zona Liberă has the same intense pulse in the week nights as it has during the weekends. Placed in the back of Cișmigiu, right next to the fold for peacocks, the kiosk is one of the most authentic artifacts of Bucharest. After more than 20 years of being in the same spot, the butic keeps most of its original features. Even the public is the same: kids that used to order cotton candy at the window are now the creatives sipping on drinks and crunching popcorn at the tables.
You won’t come here for dinner, since these instant snacks are all the food you can get. But they’ll come as a blessing after you try all the drinks Zona Liberă has to offer. You’ll want at least a glass of the cheapest gin you can have in the city. Also, try an Igazi Csiki Sor, a hungarian named but locally produced beer. FIY, Igazi Csiki Sor means The Actual Ciuc Beer. The name is addressed to Ciuc makers, subtly suggesting the legal fight the 2 producers had. And then to finish the night properly, give a chance to their Stroh shots with either 60% or 80% alcohol, generously poured from their dispenser.
After leaving, you have to know 2 things will inevitably happen. First, on your way home you’ll surprise yourself gratefully humming the tunes from the playlist. Make a mental note to also search for the music selected by DJ Vasile for his radio show. Bearing the same name as the bar in Cișmigiu, both have just as much personality. Second, you’ll definitely feel the need to come again during day time to check if this mesmerizing place really exists. So let me warn you, Zona Liberă is at least 2 different places jammed into the same cramped space. It’s the hypnotic blue light irradiated from inside that makes it unrealistically cinematic at night. And then discouragingly unfamiliar while it’s still light outside, because of flowers replacing empty beer glasses on the tables. But witnessing the magic of Zona Liberă together with the peacocks nearby, is what makes the boutique unique and us really lucky to have it.

Fine dining restaurant, with a spacious terrace and a wonderful interior in a beautiful house in central Bucharest. The menu is quite special, offering dishes with an extra touch of Asian and French influences. Specialties from Thailand and Myanmar blend well with the French cuisine, and the menu proposed by Manuela Paraschivescu, chef and co-owner of the place, highlights how to play with the ingredients to offer a unique experience.

Restaurant Savart

Designed as a cultural hub, Point has been shaking people’s conscience, supporting local artists, promoting contemporary arts, and offering a laboratory for new experiences. An ambitious mission, especially since they put the focus on cross-disciplinary works, while making it accessible to anyone and not only specialists. Ambitious, but necessary as those places are too rare in today's Bucharest. With the theater at the third floor, two spacious rooms and a garden, any cultural event happening there mobilizes as much curious people as intense art lovers, making each visit a source of inspiration for the visitors.
Being a national heritage building, the place combines perfectly the classical architecture with the inside's more modern look, revealing in a way what is Point all about.
Finally, if you are a little epicurean like me, you will hardly resist having a drink from the bar or a tasty meal from their kitchen, whatever was the original reason of your visit.

M60 is the place who got created in an area surrounded by the best hotels in town. Guess why? These hotels don't even serve specialty coffee. You can also go there for breakfast, lunch, or grab a beer in the evening. M60 is the favourite place of freelancers, as it has quite a lot of space, plugs, and comfortable chairs and table to give the possibility to someone to stay hours while being productive on his tasks.

Lente loves art. Lente loves animation (they’re partners of the awesome Anim’Est festival). And Lente loves even more street artists, as its walls, both indoors and outdoors, will confirm. This is Lente’s third and latest 'living room', an artsy haven tucked away on the lovely Dionisie Lupu street, a few minutes away from Piata Romana. This is a place with an open mind and open doors (they welcome kids, pets and bikes) that feels like home.

Again, seasons matter. In winter, you’ll find comfort in this old bourgeois house where the attic has been turned into a heaven for board games (there’s over 100 of them for you to binge). 
In summer, the terrace takes over, home to some cool wall painting events and outdoor djing.  Their Asian woks are pretty rad, but if you’re a burger scientist, head to Lente on Wednesdays and try to convince the chef your recipe is worth a try, you may get to leave your mark on their future menu.

Guido is primarily a roastery, making it a right place to enjoy the smell of freshly roasted beans. Mostly serving coffee bags for home baristas, you can still go for a visit and order your favourite drink. If you want to feel the vibes of a coffee shop and drink the coffee from Guido, go to Fellow One, on Calea Victoriei.

A popular place during hot summer evenings, Shift Pub is known for its proximity to Piața Romană. Hidden inside a courtyard, the place could be seen as a beer garden in the summer, a pub or a cozy bistro. While the seating downstairs looks rather formal, upstairs you can find more cozy spots nicely designed. Their selection of drinks and especially wine is a must-try, and their diverse menu offers veggie options too. 

It can get really crowded during the evenings, so be sure to book a table if you want to eat there. As for recommendations, I would really suggest the zucchini with cream cheese and the white chocolate cake!

Shift Pub

Cozy coffee shop on Calea Victoriei, with a large variety of coffees from Gardelli, a world award winning roastery based in Italy. Nice selection of lemonades, belgian beers and other refreshing drinks. Special crush for the desserts and the nice design too.

With a very nice garden during summer time, the stylish interior of Edo makes it quite appealing and a good place for eating on weekends, in the heart of Bucharest. The place has many seating options, including diner booths for your friend or family group. And if you feel fishy enough, you can enjoy the big, wet fish pond in the terrace and choose your next meal to put on the plate.
The sushi is terribly good and the seafood tempura as nicely decorated as carefully cooked. Flavor experience 10/10. I suggest you to check the Chef's choice of the week or the tempura ice-cream, they have their own way of making the cream, and my oh my it's goooooood. Finally, because no one likes to snap their neck in order to get the waiter's attention, use the button they provide on the table. A small electrical shock is sent to the waiter, who will instantly jump to your table... Come on, you know i'm not being serious. But the rest is all true.

Do you know the Ice Cream Boyz? Ice Cream and Cakes? Well, if not, it is ok, Sweetology also offers both. They have a selection of different cheese cakes, which doesn't mean that you will have a Burduf cheese cake, no worries, but more like different toppings with the cheese cake base. For the ice cream lovers, we honestly fell in love with their salted caramel ice cream, but please keep it for yourself. Another great thing about Sweetology is that you can go there til 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Attached to the French Institute building in Bucharest, Elvire Popesco is a very popular cinema that usually premieres Romanian movies and hosts film festivals such as NexT, but also reunites the French community (hot guys alert -- i told them not to let me write this article) in Bucharest through conferences etc. Named after a very popular actress that was too pretty to live in Romania and wanted more followers so she went to Paris, this cinema features a very interesting movie selection (also late evening screenings for night owls).
This is a nice place for dates, of course, and nobody is going to spoil your romantic evening by loudly chewing popcorn behind you, because that's forbidden here.

A true Jazz bar in the middle of Cotroceni. Open since 2012, JazzBook hosts jazz concerts every week, promoting both romanian and foreign talents passing by. JazzBook is also a musical springboard for the students from the Convervatory of Music in Bucharest. 

The bohemian atmosphere is also pleasant when there are no concerts, thanks to the old cozy sofas and the lighting which will make you feel like home. A nice set up for a romantic evening or with some friends, which drinks at a very affordable price.

To all the runners from the Cismigiu Park: you are finally running for a reason. This reason is the tender juicy burgers from Bugeria Stirbei. The new contestant in the burger game, that comes like a slap in your face, a kiss to your belly and a soft pad on the back, swiping away all the troubles from the day. Malacu the cook, always with a big smile on, will craft the shot of calories you need to jog endlessly until your next burger stop.

Street food at its best. Pizza Maestro is, in my opinion, the local way of doing italian fast food pizzas, with fresh ingredients and a real neapolitan pizza oven. So, if you end up walking on Mosilor in the evening, or look for a warm snack to eat while in the area, you have your new spot. Pofta buna !

Cascara Coffee Roastery opened in 2017 in Snagov and is, since then, providing beans to coffee shops in several cities in Romania. Recently, Bianca and Tiberiu, owners of Cascara, decided to make the move to Bucharest, by opening their coffee shop, with the help of Alin. Located on Calea Victoriei, the coffee shop is a flagship store promoting the results of all their efforts. They have various beans for the ones who enjoy filter coffee. The espresso lovers will enjoy seeing the preparation of their favourite drink on a Modbar, giving more transparency than ever in the way the barista prepares it. 

They have a nice selection of coffee beans, but the pastries are also something which makes Cascara special. The only thing I can tell is that you should definitely give it a try.

Romanian food is not necessarily about Mici, Sarmale and Zacusca, and Zexe makes sure people who enjoy a dinner at their restaurant get to know about other specific dishes. Having a focus on food from the interbelic period, they put on the menu some recipes which have somehow disappeared from today's romanian cuisine. As they say : "Pronounce in a loud voice, holding your right hand on your heart, the password: ZEXE! " when you arrive there. It will make you become one of those enthusiastic people willing and determined to put the Romanian gastronomy on the map of European culinary values.

Yes, Coolinart can make it happen. The burger is vegan and juicy in fact, accompanied with handmade fries. The perfect match, I tell you.

Not necessarily interested in eating burgers? Well, you will find avocados in all shapes, salads and smoothies, and more.

Not to mention that having a sunny terrace on Calea Victoriei, located at a reasonable distance from the road, reduces the cars noise, and will, therefore, make it one of your favorite places for brunch.

Fresh french pastries and bread, a selection of amazing refreshing drinks, blend from Origo, some delicious salads for the food lovers enjoying a nice walk in Cotroceni. A great selection of japanese tea tools and cool books to read or to buy. This is in few words what you can expect at La Petite Bouffe. The small terrace under the shadow is also a big plus.

Established in 2002, Rocca is in a way a quality insurance when it comes to good food and good drinks. They do care about their food, as they often remind you that no dishes are prepared in advance. They keep it fresh and slowly cooked. Surprisingly enough, they offer quite a wide range of asian food, from Chinese to Thai, as much as some tasty Indian dishes. While this usually sounds like a warning signal, they actually nail it each time. Drink wise, next to the classics they offer a nice selection of local craft beers (Sikaru, Three Happy Brewers, Carol, Therapy...) and even make their own craft beers, with a total of 4 different kinds.
Finally, being fully covered, the terrace is actually as good when it's all warm and sunny as when it's pouring rain.

Just a few blocks south of Ștefan cel Mare, Acuarela is a living, breathing piece of art in progress. Everything here screams handmade, handpicked, collected with love, to build a one-of-a kind home for artlovers and artists, featuring jazz concerts and jam sessions, indie theatre, photography, live drawing, contemporary art vernissages and fairs.

If it is indeed a bistro with good craft beer, burgers and some vegan options, all its proceeds go to the artistic and cultural association Imbold that has its gallery in the main house (one that could very well be your grandma’s if she’d been to art school). The attic (or mansarda) is a super cozy hangout where you’ll sometimes catch a screening. The garden is where you’ll wanna hang out with your friends under Acuarela’s now-iconic skyline of coloured umbrellas. If it starts raining cats and dogs, you’ll hardly be protected. But that’s exactly the right time to grab the water colors and brushes you’ll find on the table and start being creative.

Hey, clatite lover, what about trying pancakes, but the Russian way this time? 

The best way to explain you what a Russian pancake is about is to try it yourself. Just know that after one amazing salted pancake, you might feel quite full. But if you still feel like feeding your stomach with good food, there is an interesting sweet menu as well. 

We usually go for the pancake with cheese, lot of cheese.

If you wonder about the chef, just know that he is from Russia and he knows what he does.

Located on Calea Dorobanti, Dose Café belongs to two former sailors from Constanta, who fell in love with specialty coffee during their numerous trips all around the world. Open since a year and half, they remain loyal to their coffee provider, Caffenation, a roastery based in Antwerp, another harbor city, to give us a wink. Good coffee for sure, but also great service! Always smiling and willing to help, you will feel home by the time you open the door. The place is small, but very enjoyable for a coffee to drink in.

Dose Cafe

Black Habit is the first cafe you may find when you come from a trip in other Romanian cities. Located between Gara de Nord and the centre, many would look to have a great espresso drink after a long trip with our lovely CFR. The recently opened place is owned by Ionut, former barista at Origo, who knows how to use his Black Eagle espresso machine in the right way. Their menu is fascinating, offering a large selection of cold coffee drinks, as well as delicious sandwiches. Told you, a perfect option when you arrive back in town. 

Black Habit

Friddi is more than an ice cream shop. I'll call it a gelato and sorbetto lab, where ice cream is produced on the spot, with fresh Romanian milk and cream, pistachios from Sicily, single origin chocolate from Africa or South America, and obviously fresh fruits.

The place is open from 8 am until midnight, which gives you the opportunity to get your gelato with specialty coffee from Origo for the early birds, and a glass of prosecco with your favourite cup of ice cream fo the ones desiring to have a nice evening out with friends.

Located in the "main square" of the recently build office building the Landmark, its terrace is to become one of the nicest spots to chill with friends.

Have you ever tried Brazilian, Argentinian or Colombian cuisine? If not, Blue Margarita is to put on your to-do-list of places to eat ! You'll be able to try amazing dishes prepared by a passionate chef, who loves to share his passion of Latin-America through his dishes. If you're more familiar and willing to get some Mexican cuisine, just know that delicious burritos, chimichangas and tortillas are also on the menu. Y ahora, que aproveche!

I particularly like the indoor, made of wooden furnitures, white walls and Transylvanian fabrics, but the you can also eat in the nice looking yard during sunny days.

Our old friend Gabriel Carutasu took over the former tea house "Joie de Vivre" to open "RePlace" in Cotroceni. Probably the most spacious coffee shop in town, you'll have the choice between sitting at the Provencal looking outdoor terrace or get in the house offering a cozy atmosphere with its wooden chairs and sofas. Coffee wise, you'll have the choice between beans from different roasters also available at most of the places for which Gabriel used to collaborate. The tea selection is still available as well as wonderful pies. 

A brunch menu is also available during weekends. 

RePlace

In the rather hipsterish Bucharest bar scene, the intimate Beat Bar has a soul of its own. Relocated in 2017 from the Jewish district and in 2023 from the more central Vasile Lascar to Calea Plevnei, Beat Bar has kept intact its unique bohemian vibe, a blend of cultural references that go from the Beat poets to classic French cinema, with a touch of jazz and other alternative music. 

Here, the playlist is open to everyone, and you’ll soon find yourself starting a discussion with a stranger, local or traveller, drinking the night away at a screening of some edgy arthouse movie, at an occasional pop-up yard sale (vinyls, sneakers), or during one of its many concerts, poetry nights or jam sessions. Beat has a deliberately laid-back avant-garde vibe, thanks to Alexandra, the owner, who’ll happily switch to French to chat about Serge Gainsbourg or the Nouvelle Vague. Just grab a Zaganu or a house cocktail (Culoarea Rodiei, Applesinth, Rum in Flames), head for the terrace, and experience the unique feeling of being somewhat totally disconnected from Bucharest.

Each bite of their pizzas will make you understand that a lot of efforts have been put together for you to have a moment of culinary pleasure. Think only about the dough, which is usually what people judge to determine whether or not a pizza is a good one. At PizzaMania, they let the dough rest for 26 hours at least, ensuring a delicious and light taste. They cover the dough with high-quality product and let it in the oven for the perfect amount of time, offering a great result I can only recommend. Many people love this place, and they have many good reasons to do so.

Grivita Pub&Grill is the right place to socialize when you come for a drink or dinner while near Gara de Nord. You'll be welcomed with a substantial portion of peanuts you have to shell yourself. Please note that you are allowed to throw the peanut shell on the floor, and this is what brings you all the charm of this place. 

The list of burgers is quite attractive as well, offering several options according to your taste. Anyway, you'll have the chance to get the burger bread, made with some pumpkin seeds, making it crunchy, to satisfy you even more.

An outdoor art gallery, where pieces of art are exhibited only if you are somewhere in the sky. No need to take the plane or an helicopter tho, all you need is to get on top of the Turnul de Arta, from where you can admire the pieces, painted on the roof of several buildings belonging to an industrial complex in Pantelimon. However, Make a Point is not only a nice panorama of Pantelimon and its paintings, the association also organizes screenings and temporary events, aiming to "bring culture closer to the people, geographically", as they say.

A REAL hidden gem. Tehran restaurant is the type of place you can't find without knowing the exact address. Located in a house, there is nothing that will make you think it is a restaurant from outside. There is zero indication visible from the street. But, when you ring the bell, the magic starts operating.

Two rooms, 20 seats, and real Iranian cuisine. Expect the traditional lamb/beef/chicken sticks with rice and safran, and a tomato on the grill. But they also have other dishes that you might not find in other restaurants in Bucharest. 

The choices are limited, as they ensure fresh products for their customers.

You'll find the results in your plate. The meat is juicy, not too cooked, and the taste will keep you speechless !

It's all about wine!

I didn't expect such a wide range of Romanian and European wines, they claim 500 references. Being also a wine store, you just have to add 30 lei on any bottle to have it served at your table, enabling you to enjoy world class wines at cellar price. The menu seems appetizing though I've only tried a delicious platter of well-selected Romanian cheese. 

Fancy yet casual, service was top notch, so there's no point to drink home anymore!

Many say that French Revolution is the place where the eclairs are actually better than in France. Hardly believable, some would say. But I can assure you never had I so much pleasure eating an eclair before going to French Revolution. On top of eclairs, they now also provide excellent specialty coffee from Origo. Not the worst combo for a sweet break.

Epicurious friendly, they say. Open in the morning for breakfast lovers, until late at night for wine and cocktails enthusiasts, GRAM Bistro will always have something attractive on its menu, at any time of the day. The urban design, mixed with warm lights, are also a good reason to come over with some friends or your date, and enjoy a good time.

Most of the time, coffee shop owners are former baristas who acquire enough knowledge and have to desire to manage their own place. Sometimes, it is about a customer who sees an added-value in opening a coffee shop while being novice in preparing coffee (and asks for help to his barista friends). Saint Roastery is the story of a couple. who has spend the last couple of years traveling around the world, to discover all the aspects of coffee, from the farm to the cup, from Africa to America. Saint Roastery is the result of their research and experiences, being both a roastery and a coffee shop, both located in the same place. The place is spacious, the owners are friendly, and of course, the coffee is good. Amen.

Who's in for some good live concert and rock music with friends sometimes? We all do, right? Located between Piata Leul and Grozavesti, Quantic hosts live concerts several time a week, in its large interior, but also in its big terrace. The place is not only offering fresh beer for the ones attending concerts, but also serve great pub food.

Cărți, Dulciuri și Flori is a concept store developed by Ioana Uretu around the idea of the perfect gift, because one can never go wrong with a tasty caked, a spectacular bouquet and an mind opening book. Ioana and her crew are just as friendly as you can imagine. If I were you, i would go there to have a coffee pavlova, enjoy the flowery set and home like experience.

What a nice feeling to see all these shelves full of Italian mozzarella buffala, parmigiano, prosciutto and other italian products. What an even nicer feeling to see that you can actually take a sit between these shelves and enjoy a proper dinner with a great wine, while in Floreasca. I let you imagine how happy you'll get when your pizza or ham and cheese platter reaches your table. Buon Appetito.

Romania's craft beer scene boomed in the last few years, some of the brands being already considered iconic. However, many other micro-breweries are doing a good job all over the country, and the right way to know about most of them is to go to The Beer Institute, the first shop dedicated only to local craft beers. More than 100 different brands available in the shop, but there is also the possibility to enjoy a fresh beer at the bar.

A looooong list of delicious pastries, all nicely dressed at the counter. Going there alone will force you to have a long reflexion before taking your decision, as all the tarts look tastier than the last. However, going with some friends might be the best option for the ones willing to taste a bit of everything, following with a discussion about what each likes the most (and eventually doing a last minute plate exchange). Anyway, Atelierul de Tarte got you covered: pistachio, chocolate, orange, cream, lemon, biscuits, meringue, this is just a few examples about the tarts you'll find there. And I just talk about the sweet stuff here. 

They also have fabulous savory stuff for brunch and lunch options.

From the same team that did regretted A1 and A3, Ai Sushi Bar offers obviously pretty-and-tasty sushi. But it doesn't stop at sushis, as they offer all kind of warm dishes, usually with some kind of asian-fusion touch, from Indian to Japanese (so pretty large palette yes). And more than that, they also serve a breakfast their relaxed terrace. Terrace that reminded me of one of the most Parisian one from Bucharest. Finally, they strike my most sensitive cord to make sure I'm fully seduced, serving local craft beer.

Moritz Eis might sounds german, but actually, the brand has been established in our south-western neighboring country: Serbia. Since then, the brand opened several shops in Central and Eastern Europe. What I like about them, obviously the taste of the ice creams, all made naturally, without being full of sugar. The minimalist brand image and design of Moritz Eis is also a reason to stop by.

DropShot is a recently opened roastery and coffee-to-go place, located in a hidden yard belonging to the former Apaca textile factory. The right place for all the people working in the area and desiring to have a great cup of coffee at affordable prices. The menu consists on having both specialty and non-specialty coffee beans, all roasted in-house, to be able to answer to the needs of everyone. Having the roaster next to the point of sales, and offering coffee beans from various quality is a step forward through educating people too specialty. 

Special tip: You have the possibility to do push-ups at the entrance. If you do 10, your coffee is for free.
