Cheese Corner at the Local Farmers’ Market

shareclose

Spoiler alert! This is not your typical place! I moved to Romania 5 years ago. Since then, finding delicious local cheese felt like a perpetual challenging journey, not being seduced by the regular Cascaval and Telemea -yet-. Of course, I found good cheese on the way, in some remote villages, but it was hard to maintain that relationship with the farmer and enjoy these lovely cheese when being in Bucharest. I went to several "Piata" and "Bacania", looked for all the cheese stands, tried most of the aged cheese available, but never found that top quality I was able to find in the villages. However, very recently, some friends told me to go to the Local Farmer's Market on Bd Unirii and go to the cheese stand, as they have great products. And what a surprise! I can tell for sure that the best Romanian cheese I've ever had comes from this place, and going there became part of my weekly routine.
